NO - QB Drew Brees has bruised rotator cuff

    Source: ESPN - Chris Mortensen

Updating previous reports, New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees' (shoulder) MRI revealed a bruised rotator cuff in his shoulder, according to sources. Dr. James Andrews is scheduled to look over the MRI for a second opinion.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Previous reports have this listed as a "minor" injury. A bruised rotator cuff certainly doesn't sound minor. We'll see if Brees can practice and play in preparation for the Saints Week 3 game against the Panthers.

CHI - QB Jay Cutler out at least two weeks

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (hamstring) will miss at least two weeks because of the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 2, according to sources.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jimmy Clausen will be the starting quarterback for the time being. The loss of Cutler is a downgrade for all skill position players on the Bears roster. They travel to Seattle in Week 3 to take on a hungry 0-2 Seahawks. Good luck with that.

ATL - No timetable for RB Tevin Coleman
    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Andrew Hirsh
Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (rib) will be held out of practice through Thursday, Sept. 24, and his status will be updated Friday, Sept. 25, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said there is no timetable for Coleman because his return will depend on his pain threshold.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Rib injuries often come down to pain tolerance. It's an injury that is known to linger if not given enough time to heal. It's a disappointment for a talented rookie we enjoyed watching on Sundays. Without him on the field, the team will turn to Devonta Freeman.

GB - RB Eddie Lacy may play in Week 3

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy's (ankle) ankle injury is considered minor, and he has a chance to play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this situation. Monitor Lacy's practice reports during the week...mainly on Friday to get a feel for his playing status.

DET - QB Matthew Stafford looking better

    Source: ESPN.com - Michael Rothstein

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (chest, ribs, elbow) was spotted in the locker room Monday, Sept. 21, moving around better than he was after the game Sunday, Sept. 20, and he didn't appear to have wraps on his chest or ribs. However, his left elbow was still bandaged, and the Lions are waiting on the results of his X-rays. Stafford said, 'I feel OK' when asked if he will play in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The game isn't until Sunday night, so have a better option at the ready. Watch Stafford's practice reports as the week goes on.

CLE - CLE starting QB to be decided

    Source: ESPN.com - Pat McManamon

Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns QBs Josh McCown (concussion) and Johnny Manziel don't know who will start Week 3 yet. McCown is still going through the league's concussion protocol, while Manziel just led the Browns to a Week 2 win. Head coach Mike Pettine said he will meet with offensive coordinator John DeFilippo and quarterbacks coach Kevin O'Connell to discuss the quarterback situation.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCown doesn't offer much when the play breaks down, and that's Manziel's hallmark. However, McCown is better at running the offense while Manziel loves to improvise. We'll know more about their decision in the coming week.

HOU - RB Arian Foster day-to-day

    Source: HoustonTexans.com - Drew Dougherty

Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) is considered day-to-day as he continues to recover from offseason groin surgery.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foster did not play in Week 2, but his return is oh-so-close. Watch the practice reports to get an indication of whether or not he'll play in Week 3. The Texans play at home against the Buccaneers this week, and that would be a great game to get Foster back in action.

STL - RB Todd Gurley may be game-time decision

    Source: ESPN.com - Nick Wagoner

St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) is still considered week-to-week and likely will be a game-time decision for the Week 3 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers "Beaded Curtain" defense isn't strong, so introducing Gurley this week might make sense. The Rams have wisely been cautious with Gurley so far, and we're not expecting that to change. They'll continue to monitor him closely in practice before making a decision about his playing status.

DAL - Dallas looking at available QBs

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

Free-agent QB Josh Johnson (Jets) is one of the quarterbacks that will be working out for the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys have also reached out to free-agent QB Jason Campbell (Bengals), but it appears he will remain retired at the moment.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys need a backup behind Brandon Weeden while Tony Romo is out. Johnson has good athleticism, but accuracy as a passer has always been a problem for him.

PHI - RB DeMarco Murray can't find running room

    Source: ESPN Stats and Information

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray has been contacted 0.1 yards behind the line of scrimmage on average during his first two games with the Eagles. Murray was not hit until he was 2.8 yards past the line of scrimmage on average last season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's just a tiny bit unfair to compare the Cowboys O-Line to what Murray is running behind this year with the Eagles. Murray has minus-2 yards before contact this year, and only 13 yards after contact over the first two games of the season. Yes, it's that bad. Fantasy owners are going to be scrambling for help at the position until we see the Eagles look like the high-powered offense most were expecting.

DAL - QB Brandon Weeden will be the guy

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Dallas Cowboys QB Brandon Weeden will fill in if QB Tony Romo (clavicle) misses time as the team is not seeking to trade for a quarterback.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Alrighty then. The Weeden era may only last a couple of months, but it will be important for him to keep the team on a winning track until Romo gets back. We expect the team to lean on their offensive line and rushing attack. Early on, it seems like Weeden has a good connection with WR Terrance Williams and TE Jason Witten. We'll know more about his target preferences the more he plays.

CIN - Fumbling an issue for RB Jeremy Hill

    Source: ESPN.com - Coley Harvey

Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill has seven fumbles in 18 career NFL games. The fact that Hill was benched in favor of RB Giovani Bernard, who ran 20 times for 123 yards in Week 2 against the San Diego Chargers, further hammered home the point for Hill. 'We can't have the back fumbling the football,' head coach Marvin Lewis said. 'Jeremy's a talented young player and we've got to keep the football. That wasn't part of his deal last year and we can't let it creep in.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hill needs to hang onto the rock if he wants to earn back the trust of the coaching staff. It was a problem for him last year as a rookie as he had five fumbles in 2014. Gio Bernard looked fantastic in place of Hill, and the team could turn to him instead of Hill if the fumbling issues continue. At the very least, the Bengals could use more from Bernard than originally thought.

PHI - ILB Kiko Alonso may miss rest of season

    Source: FOXSports.com - Mike Garafolo

Philadelphia Eagles LB Kiko Alonso (knee) could miss the rest of the 2015 season because of a knee injury he suffered during the team's Week 2 game, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Alonso is a talented player, but he's a regular target for the injury bug. In the game against the Cowboys on Sunday, Alonso hurt the same knee that cost him all of 2014 with a torn ACL. It would be a huge blow to the Eagles defense if Alonso missed significant time with another knee injury.

DEN - RB C.J. Anderson running out of time

Source: The Denver Post - Troy E. Renck

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle, toe) figures to have one more game to secure the starting running back job in Denver, in the opinion of The Denver Post's Troy Renck. Anderson is dealing with toe and ankle soreness but says he's fine. He's also received no help from a bad offensive line. RB Ronnie Hillman is better at finding holes, but his 75 yards on 21 carries in two weeks isn't all that impressive, either. Hillman may have earned more time and is a good fit in the zone-blocking scheme, having run it in college for two years. Head coach Gary Kubiak won't abandon the run, and a real evaluation of the run game and position will come when the offensive line settles down.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anderson may say he's fine, but he doesn't look like the back who led the league in rushing over the final six weeks of the 2014 season. The Broncos could go with a "hot hand" approach at running back, which would be a huge headache for fantasy owners. Hillman has the speed, but he doesn't generate yards after contact. Anderson is more powerful, but he doesn't look quite right yet after suffering an injury in Week 1. The offensive line isn't doing anyone any favors right now. Avoid this situation until we get more clarity on who "the man" is for Denver.

ARI - RB David Johnson fine with role

Source: FOX Sports 910 Radio - Mike Jurecki

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson said he continues to learn the offensive playbook and is fine with the role he has on offense.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson may be fine with his role, but fantasy owners want to see more from the talented rookie. His straight-line speed was on display as he scored two touchdowns on Sunday. Even when Andre Ellington comes back from injury, we'd like to see Johnson worked into the mix a little more.

ARI - RB Chris Johnson remains starter

Source: FOX Sports 910 Radio - Mike Jurecki

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson will continue to be the starting running back while RB Andre Ellington (knee) is sidelined, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Arians is a pretty honest coach, so take him at his word. While Chris Johnson continues as the starter, we could see rookie David Johnson worked in with a larger role.

SF - RB Carlos Hyde has thigh injury

    Source: ESPN - Ed Werder

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (thigh) suffered a thigh contusion during the team's Week 2 game and will be monitored this week, according to head coach Jim Tomsula.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners were looking for Hyde to have a big week before he was injured. Now, we'll have to see if he can practice this week as the 49ers prepare to travel for a game against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3. A banged up Hyde could have trouble finding running lanes against the Cardinals. Consider him a RB3/flex if he plays.

BUF - WR Sammy Watkins rebounds

    Source: NFL

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins caught six passes for 60 yards and a touchdown against the New England Patriots in Week 2. Watkins had been held without a catch in Week 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The gamescript unfolded where Buffalo had to play catch-up football. That led to Watkins getting more targets and production in Week 2. The Bills want to run the ball often and have a conservative passing game. Keep this in mind when considering Watkins as a starter for your fantasy team.

CAR - WR Jerricho Cotchery has high ankle sprain

Source: Charlotte Observer - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) suffered a high ankle sprain during the team's Week 2 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Panthers passing game is not overly potent, so most fantasy owners won't be have Cotchery on the roster. Cotchery was able to return to the game after suffering the injury, so the team is hoping Cotchery will be able to play in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints.
