This is an inflated number. All this E.J. Manuel chatter has chumps racing to the window to throw down on the Bears. Let's remember, Manuel was not that bad last year, when healthy. Despite a lackluster preseason, I'm not convinced he suddenly became the worst starting quarterback in the history of the universe. The good thing is, he should be able to lean on a strong ground game against a very suspect Bears defense, and then take some shots with a talented WR corps.

If nothing else, the Bills can at least play some defense, especially against the pass, which will serve them well against the pass-happy attack of Trestman's Bears. They were 2nd in the league last year in sacks and return guys up front like Mario Williams (13 sacks), Kyle Williams (10.5), Jerry Hughes (10), and Marcell Dareus (7.5). They have a strong corner tandem in Stephon Gilmore and Leodis McKelvin who can at least provide some resistance against the Marshall and Jeffery combo.

The X-factor here, in my opinion, is that the Bills replaced their departed defensive coordinator with former Lions head coach Jim Schwartz, who, being from the NFC North, knows the Bears inside out.

Seven points is a pretty large number, by NFL standards, and I'm not sure it's warranted here. The Bills should be able to apply some pressure to Cutler, and if history is any indication, force him into some mistakes.

If the Bears had been a 7 point chalk in every game last year, their record against the spread would have been 2-12-2. They only beat an opponent by more than seven points TWICE all of last year.

I agree with the Bills being the right side. Do you think closer to kickoff you might see +7.5?

The Bills are a moribund franchise; I would never bet on them. Bears start every season strong and then fade. Also, their second games is at SF, and they can't afford to go down 0-2, so they'll do everything they can to put the Bills away in the opener. I teased the Bears down to -1 with the Broncos.

It's hard saying which way the number will move. I couldn't even venture a guess. I like getting the seven points though and I'm willing pull the trigger. Knowing my luck with line movements, I'll wait for that extra hook and then watch it drop to 6.5 on gameday.

Worth a shot. I could see Bills hanging around with that D. CHI backers probably should consider teasing.

Word is Marone is losing this locker room and may get fired. Just can't back Buffalo when word like that is going around.

I live in Chicago, I'm a Bears fan but if that number moves back to seven I'm all over the Bills. Since I generally try and fade the public I have a hard time not loving the Bills who have only 10% (lowest this week including over/unders ON THE SITE I FOLLOW) of the action so far. I know one thing for certain, if I take the Bills I'm on the house side and that's always the best side.

Why not add the OVER when you think the BILLS can cover the 7 pts spread ? The BEARS can easily put up 4 TDs at home.

I read somewhere this week that Cutler is 4-0 with 12 tds or something in their last 4 opening day games. I love Over 47 here and also the parlay with Chicago -6.5 on Bookmaker. No offense Eddy but having Jim Schwartz on the other side always makes me feel better going in.

Bears probably roll the Bills. Marrone isn't respected there and it's just a matter of time before he is gone. Doubt they will be well prepared and they have to go into Soldier Field. Hope they can win though.

Things like this are just the norm in Buffalo. The team may never be relevant again.

Reminds me a lot of the situation last year in Tampa with Schiano. These college coaches can't just come in and run it exactly like a college program.
