Aaron Rodgers confident he can be the next Brett Favre
Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Aaron Rodgers says that after two years of watching and waiting, he is 100-percent confident he can step into Brett Favre’s shoes without the franchise skipping a beat.

“When I was drafted by the Packers, everyone kept saying to me: ‘Oooh. It’s going to be so hard for you to come after a legend like Brett Favre. The expectations will be so high because he’s so great,’” said Rodgers. “I was nervous at first, but after watching him play I’m confident I can do what he does when the time comes.”

Rodgers stressed that he by no means believes he will make Packers fans forget Favre, only that he feels he can perform up to his level.

“Not to speak out of turn or be disrespectful in any way, but what is so hard?” he said. “Apparently all you have to do is run around wildly in the pocket and heave the ball way downfield into triple coverage. I can do that. In fact, I could have done that when I was playing junior high football. It’s not rocket science.”

haha holy crap haha WOOOO YEAH!
He's a nut - he's been saying crap like that since he got to GB. Maybe that's why Favre doesn't bother 'tutoring' him...

That IS classic, though. Save this thread for 10 years from now so we can bust it out every year and have a laugh. Heck, break it out in a year!

What's Rogers supposed to say? "Uh, I'm going to be the next Ryan Leaf."

Most of these younger QBs have the highest of aspirations, but it's what you do between the lines that counts. It all remains to be seen.

I commend Rogers for at least having a positive attitude. If I was Rogers, I'd be happy sitting on the sidelines right now. Let Favre take the beating behind this rookie O-line. Maybe after Favre retires, this line will be seasoned enough to block somebody.

Hehe - I agree with you, Slacker. I like the confidence - but yeesh, that's a bit much.

At LEAST he didn't say "I'LL BUY THIS TEAM!" like Leaf did LOL. That's still the best quote of all time in sports.

Aaron Rodgers can't even be the next Lynn Dickey. I'll say he is the next Doug Pederson.

                        Heh - how's this one?
I was thinking for the 'shoe in' of the week pic, but I think that one works.
Of course, if something better came along...
