Hedge Help on the Super Bowl
I'm not that experienced in sports betting, but I like to put some money on games here and there and feel like I know I what I'm doing for the most part.....Anyway, before the playoffs started, I bet 100 to win 2000 on the Cards to win the Super Bowl

2000 would be alot for me, it would basically double my bankroll....Problem is I really feel like the Steelers will take this one.....I am looking to hedge this bet to guarantee a nice profit, but the Steelers on the ML are currently -250......What would you do to hedge? Just let it ride and pray for the Cardinals? Thanks

arb calc from here: http://www.sbrforum.com/Betting+Tools/Home.aspx might help

set the line 1 to +2000 odds and line 2 to -250

it will tell you to wager 1500 on steelers to win 600

you will net 500 either way then.

          It's all up to you.

It is up to you how much you want to hedge with but here a few options.

My book has it at -240. So you could:

Bet 1,000 to win 416.67. Arizona wins you win $900 and if the Steelers win you win $316.67.

You should just play around with it till you find a number that you like.

Thanks, I was going to do something similar to this, just wanted to double check with some of you guys.....If I hit a hot streak between now and the superbowl, I might just let it ride with the Cards anyway

Thanks....this is good advice, and probably makes the most sense, but I def want to win more money on one or the other.....How could I not have a "gamble" on the biggest game of the year?

yeah i understand that, maybe try to get a good price on pitt -3 and hope you dont get middled on. either that or maybe wait and do some live betting and try to get a better price on pitt. that may be a good idea anyway, if ari gets ahead by 10 or so throw a couple hundred on pitt at a nice number and let it play out

tough to say, it depends on what you have pitt valued at. -250? -300? -150?

Another more risky hedge option would be to bet on Roethlisbergerfor MVP at +175 or so.. Odds are that if Pitts wins it goes to him.. (or at least is shared) You could do 300 pays 500 or so. Then you have 1600 profit for cards or 500 for pitt.. (assuming Ben gets it)
