Ok, but the ref admitted afterwards that the call was wrong and Pitts should have gotten the TD. So do they change the scoreboard now since it effects the tiebreaker crap you are talking about? the ref was either mis quoted or he has no idea what he is talking about. the first attempted lateral was forward and ends the play at that point. tomorrow the play will be explained as such in a press release.

Outside of the NFL, Green is co-partner in a government relations firm that assists law enforcement agencies in suburban Washington, D.C. He has a wife, Julie, a son, Keil, and three daughters, Holly, Jen and Amanda.

Green started in the NFL as a field judge with the start of the 1991 NFL season before switching to back judge after the league swapped position titles at the start of the 1998 NFL season.

Considered to be the top back judge in the league, Green was involved in a controversial finish to a New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers Wild Card playoff game played January 5, 2003. Green and the officials apparently forgot that New York's Rich Seubert, a guard who had lined up legally in a receiver's spot, was an eligible receiver. Seubert appeared to be interfered by a San Francisco defender on a botched field goal attempt while going downfield to receive a pass. Since Green was the downfield official, this was his play to cover, but had to scramble from the goalpost to get into position to cover the play. Green, not knowing that Seubert was eligible, did not throw a flag to signify the penalty. Instead, the Giants were called for having an illegal man downfield on the play. Commissioner Paul Tagliabue described the situation as the most disappointing officiating blunder he'd seen in his years as NFL commissioner [1] and announced that officiating mechanics surrounding field-goal attempts and last plays of games would be changed [2].

Greene took back a defensive touchdown from the Steelers in the final seconds of the game on a penalty assesed to the Chargers for an illegal forward pass. He awarded the touchdown, in spite of calling for an illegal forward pass (although replays showed no such even occurred). After another 5 more minutes of confusion, the touchdown was rescinded and the game ended with the final score of 11 to 10, with the Steelers winning by one point. The Las Vegas point spread was that the Steelers were favored by 5, so with the changed call the Chargers covered the spread.
Suspicion surrounds many of the calls for this game as being shifted in favor of the Chargers.

Greene is an official in the NFL (you decide for youself what that stands for). His deliberate penalty calls against the Steelers after every significant play led to the Steelers 11-10 win over San Diego but did not allow them to cover the 4 or 5 point spread despite having a 410-213 yard advantage in the game and a +2 turnover ratio. In modern days, with stats like this, not being able to win by 4 or 5 is unheard of unless you turn the ball over which Pittsburgh clearly did not. Pittsburgh was penalized 13 times for 105 yards, (yes 13 times!) while San Diego had only one penalty for five yards. The final and most obvious call was at the conclusion of the game when San Diego fumbled and Pittsburgh picked it up and returned it for a touchdown with no time left. The officials actually reviewed the play despite it having no effect on the game at all. Then, to the surprise of everyone in the modern world, they overturned the call and disallowed the touchdown and ran off the field giving no explanation or basis at all for their erroneous call.

He became a referee on a part-time basis during the 2004 NFL season when referee Johnny Grier was injured. Green became a full time referee at the start of the 2005 NFL season. Green's first experience as an NFL referee came on October 3, 2004 during a game between the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills.
Green's 2006 NFL officiating crew consists of Scott Dawson, Tony Veteri, Ron Marinucci, Boris Cheek, Larry Rose, and Lee Dyer.

I am pretty sure if 75% of the bets were on SD today, that holding call on Pitts in the end wouldnt have been called so this BS forward pass call wouldnt have been necessary. It was estimated they made 32 million off this game. Thats ALOT of cash during these bad economic times.

Thanx Luffy.You're right that doing all of your research is a waste of time when there is no way of knowing which game will be the next to turn out like this one.But really.These incidents are few and far between.Stick with the college games.Thats where I do most of my damage anyway and bets in college are not nearly the focal point like they are in the NFL.Not to say that shit doesn't happen there either but the fact that you have a bigger board to choose from helps a lot!!!Good Luck LUFFY!!!!

Maybe I'm missing something here but didn't they get the call right? An illegal forward pass (which there was one) stops the play dead and with no time left, the game ends 11-10. Someone tell me how this was rightfully a TD.

Now, I understand there was no need to review since the game was over but on the flip side, wasn't it classless for Polamalu to not just take a knee?

in regards to a team, they can deserve to win or not. you dotn deserve to cover, or not. a cover is an actual outcome at the games end. you cant deserve to cover.

if you bet on pitt, the rules were not followed and you got screwed. that play was part of the game, just like any other play, and SD was in the position to have to do that desperate final play.

The fact that the play was reviewed at all makes me question the integrity of the officiating. What was the purpose? It was called a TD on the field and had no implications on the outcome of the game for either team involved. Let alone there being sufficient evidence to overturn the call on the field?

If rivers had thrown a questionable completion and the time had expired would there have been a review? NO WAY

There was no point to review that play other than to find a mysterious reason to save the SD backers from catastrophy.
