Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said coach Wade Phillips will be given a chance to salvage a season that started with dreams of a Super Bowl. And Phillips has seven weeks to avoid the nightmare of missing the playoffs.While disappointed in the Cowboys record, Jones is confident Phillips can lead his team to the postseason and into the future.
"Again, I haven't given it any consideration at all," Jones said Thursday of Phillips not returning for the last two years of his contract. "There's just absolutely no – I can tell you without any hesitation – thought in my mind about him not coaching the Dallas Cowboys in the future, past this year. No thought. I haven't given that one ounce of consideration. ... His contract is his contract."
