My Sunday 1:00 picks and shameless plug for my website.
Each week I do a quick write up of my picks in order to promote my website www.nickmanningsfootballsim.com . Nick Manning’s football sim is a python program I wrote that simulates each NFL game of the football season and posts the results. Right now the results are based on version 1.0, and version 2.0 should be done by this week. I am looking for people to help me with the project so if anyone is interested please e-mail me at njm272@nyu.edu

    Onto the picks…

I think that the Rams will win in Chicago. The Rams are coming off of an exhilarating win over RGIII and the Redskins, and I expect their momentum to continue under Jeff Fisher who is probably showing leadership after his fresh start. I just think the Bears are too distracted and dysfunctional.
    Nick Manning’s Football Sim: @Bears 51%.

I think that the Bills will win in Cleveland. I think the Bills are the kind of team that can be good but is easy to figure out. Therefore a young, inexperienced team like Cleveland would be the perfect type of team to lose to the Bills. Watch out, because once you trust the Bills later in the season, they will disappoint you.
Nick Manning’s Football Sim: Bills 62%.

I think that the Cowboys will win at home against the Bucs. The Cowboys fell behind early against Seattle and weren’t able to come back in that stadium. I don’t think that loss was indicative of how they will perform this season, and I will give them the benefit of the doubt against the Bucs who are still trying to find themselves this season. I expect good things from the Bucs this year, though.
Nick Manning’s Football Sim: Bucs 62%.

I think the Lions will be able to beat the Titans. Mathew Stafford has quietly become a great regular season quarterback who is able to pretty regularly beat the bad teams even if his team falls behind. This style of team normally doesn’t come through in the playoffs but I have confidence in the Lions during the regular season.
Nick Manning’s Football Sim: Lions 66%

I think the Jaguars will beat the Colts. After watching the Jags and Vikings play each other, and then the Vikings play the Colts, it seems like all of these teams are pretty much even. Therefore, I’ll let the law of averages say that the Jags will get their first win today.
    Nick Manning’s Football Sim: @Colts 61%

I think that the Jets will beat the Dolphins. Whatever the Tebow drama is, I just don’t think the Dolphins have a strong enough offense to do anything against the Jets strong defense. I almost think the Tebow hoopla is a good enough distraction for teams to underpreare for the Jet’s true strengths.
Nick Manning’s Football Sim: Jets 62%

I like the 49ers to beat the Vikings. This could be a trap game for the 49ers but I just think that the 49ers have too many WR’s for the Vikings to cover, and they are too disciplined of a team to succumb to the “trap game”.
    Nick Manning’s Football Sim: @Vikings 52%

I like the Chiefs to beat the saints. I have simply hopped off of the Saints bandwagon and am starting to realize how valuable Sean Peyton must have been to their team. I think that some of the players on the saints are starting to treat this year like a throwaway year.
    Nick Manning’s Football Sim: @Saints 73%

Lastly, I like the Bengals to beat the Redskins. I think that while the Redskins are exciting, people overreacted to their week 1 win against NO. Now, after a loss to an underrated Rams team, they will probably overreact and play too erratically against a young team that has some experience, being fortunate enough to sneak into the playoffs last season.
    Nick Manning’s Football Sim: @Redskins 51%

I seem to disagree with my own program haha. Thanks everyone for reading my early Sunday picks. Check www.nickmanningsfootballsim.com to see who my sim picked in the later games!
