    Juice is also called "vig"

If you look at baseball, you may see a team favored by -160

The -160 is the " juice"

That is, if you bet the favorite trying to win 100 bucks, you have to risk $ 160 to win that 100 bucks

-160 team wins, you win 100
-160 team loses, you lose 160 bucks

In sports with pointspreads, most often the juice is -110 on both sides

What that allows a bookmaker to do is balance his books and he is guaranteed a profit.

( If he has 10,000 on team A, and 10,000 on team B, whichever team loses his players will lose a total of 11,000 ( 10,000 = 10% juice )

        The juice is built in

Tomorrow you may see a -160 favorite

If you play the dog, you may only get +140 in return

        Thats called a "20 cent line "

You either risk 160 to win 100 on the favorite,
Or risk 100 to win 140 on the dog....

So it is actually like 20% juice

You will see some offshores that offer 5% juice or other enticements

Shopping for low juice and good lines helps alot when gambling

5 dimes is a great offshore for lower juice, I also like bodog because I play a lot of dogs, and their lines are usually higher for tge favorites
