How do you read picks?

Hi! I'm very new to the sports world and would like to know how to read the picks that people are submitting to the forum.

Here are some examples for soccer picks:

Mainz-Hoffenheim: 1 (2.20)
Parma-Milan: 2 (2.10)

Switzerland - Super League : Thun v Xamax Neuchatel : UNDER 3.5 @ 1.60
Scotland - Premier League : Motherwell v St. Mirren : OVER 2.5 @ 2.10

AFRICA CUPS: Africa Cup of Nations - Qualifying
20:15 Tunisia - Botswana over 2.5 @1.55

I will start learning just with soccer and later on I might go into other sports.

I would be very grateful if someone could take his time and explain what all these numbers mean, like UNDER 3.5 and OVER 2.5.

Hi Myriad, welcome to SBR.

For:

Mainz-Hoffenheim: 1 (2.20)
Parma-Milan: 2 (2.10)

The 1 represents the home team and the 2 represents the visiting team. Mainz would be 1 for the first game and Milan would be 2 for the second one. The number in brackets is the odds you get if you bet on that team. A Mainz win would pay 2.2 and a Milan win would pay 2.1. If you see an "X" instead of a 1 or 2 it means a draw.

The under 3.5 and over 2.5 is the line for the total goals scored by both teams combined. If you bet under 3.5 there would have to be 3 goals or less scored for you to win the bet and it would pay 1.6x your wager. If you bet over 2.5 there would have to be 3 goals or more scored for you to win the bet and it would pay 1.55x your wager.
