How can you tell which sportsbook has better lines?
I hear this term thrown a lot... go to the book with the best lines. How can you tell who has the best lines? I mean, I am not a pro handicapper and just a casual football better.

What is the giveaway? Higher spreads, lower spreads?

depends which way you want to go on a given game. you would have to have accounts with a half dozen books and you will get tired of checking them and they change lines at the drop of a hat. only leading to confusion.

Welcome Trousky. "Best lines" usually means two thing by fellow gamblers. Often they are talking about what the house charges as the vigorish. Usually you bet 110 to win 100 on a spread. At 5Dimes, Sportbet, Pinnacle and BetPhoenix you pay less than 110. It might be 107 or $105 to win $100. Over a season this means you win much more or lose much less. It's worth more than any bonus if it is more than a short stint at gambling.

As good as reduced juice is an opinionated line. If everyone has 3 and you can get 3.5 -115, that is better than reduced juice because the value of the half is more than lesser vig.

So, if you want 3.5 you might play at Bookmaker but if you want 3 which is more standard line, you might want a reduced juice book. Often players watch lines screen like SBRodds.com to get a feel for who has the line best for the team they want to bet.

You need to go to sbrodds and have accounts to multiple sports books. If you are just starting out, pick a good book from SBR's recommended list and begin that way. Add more sports books as your roll and understanding of sports betting increases.
          Good luck!
