    .

Conventional wisdom is that the momentum of a comeback carries over into OT. But a look at the data shows that may not be the case. Plus, winning in overtime may actually be a bad sign for a team's chances in the following round.

"I suspected that more than half of the 18 remaining overtime winners would win their next game due to the momentum of an overtime victory. Instead, we see an overwhelming majority lose: of the 18 overtime winners, 16 went on to lose their next game. (The lone exceptions were the now legendary 2011 VCU and 2011 Butler squads.)"

I think you just answered you own question. OT winners in their next games are 2-16? Thats an edge and a stat that cant be ignored honestly, nice find!

that OT stat seems to be for the actual NCAA tourny. That is a totally diffrent scenario, where you are playing on neutral courts, long weekends, and playing 2 games in 4 days. Stanfod just played a home game, and Reno by airplane is an one hour flight. And I the game is @ Stanford, then OT is really irrelevant.

Just read the article, and the mentioned stat pertains to the actual NCAA tourny. Stanford v Nevade is a NIT tilt.
