Thinking this is a great play. In 2 games without Melo, Syracuse has launched over half of their field goal attempts from the perimeter. The downside? They rank somewhere around 170th in terms of 3 point shooting, percentage wise. They'll be forced to shoot well to win tomorrow because of the presence of Jordan Henriquez in the middle for Kansas State. Fair and Christmas aren't big enough to hang with Henriquez down low. If Rodney McGruder has a solid game, I think Kansas State wins this game straight up. Syracuse isn't great on the boards and K State loves to cash in those garbage points. Anybody have any other opinion on this game? I know its a public dog, but the personnel don't match up right. I think this is a 50-50 game at worst honestly.

I know I'll just look like a homer, but I'm pretty confident that Syracuse covers. They have definitely settled for too many jumpers, but that has been against teams who play zone against us. I don't think KState will decide to switch things up all of the sudden and play zone. If they do, I doubt they play it very well.
Against man to man we can get into the lane a lot easier and our play makers, especially Dion can create easier opportunities. Also, KState is a team that Syracuse can turn over and get out into transition against. That's when they are at their best, obviously and KState isn't really a smart, well disciplined team that will run their sets and burn clock. We struggle rebounding, but in the zone Fab wasn't the key guy getting boards anyway. It all comes down to our wings and Southerland/Fair/Kris are all more than capable of rebounding.
Good luck to everyone on KState, but I'm telling you we're not losing. You may sneak out a backdoor cover with the points.Comment -

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Kansas State senior forward Jamar Samuels will not play against Syracuse in the third round of the East Regional of the NCAA tournament.
The school released a statement about 20 minutes before Saturday's game that the team's second-leading scorer (10.0) and leading rebounder (6.6) would not be available for the eighth-seeded Wildcats over an eligibility concern.
The top-seeded Orange are playing the tournament without starting center Fab Melo, who was ruled ineligible by the school earlier in the week.
The 6-foot-7 Samuels had one point, eight rebounds and three assists in Kansas State's 70-64 second-round win over Southern Mississippi.
