Is being square really that bad?
I use to bet alot of favorites before i found this forum. Now im always trying to make a "sharp" decision. I look at alot of rlm and I like to fade the public alot. Recently it seems like the more "square" of a bet the bigger it wins. Tonight for example duke crushes, Murray st destroys it, st marys gets a big win, and the list goes on. I use to be all over bets like those but of course i would lose. Now that im much "sharper" im takin florida st, tenn st and so on and still losing. I feel great about my bets before the game but afterwards I feel like an idiot. for example i took texas the other night vs baylor and after im like wtf was i thinking that texas could beat baylor, and not just beat em, beat em by a few points.it just seems never ending. i feel like no way vegas is just giving money away but then it seems like they are sometimes. if anybody has some betting strategies they would like to share feel free. much apprieciated. mine arent working.

dont be mistaken... most of these plays coming from the "sharps" are either ppl who work for the books or dumb wannabe losers

the term "sharp" has totally been hijacked by these people

Don't press. Write down your picks for a few days but don't play with the book. Judge your decisions honestly. Look for value. Duke was a solid play last night. If they lose they lose, but even coach Hamilton for FSU said his team was in new territory. Duke plays big games all the time. Forget all about Sharp and Square. If a bet wins, it's SHARP. Just my two cents.....

good example is marquette/west virginia tomorrow. marquette looks like the play, it also looks like the square play, but i'm gonna play it anyway. missed out on duke and murray state today because of irrational fears.

the public is killing it this last couple weeks! I would say 75% of my bets are against the public......and I have been pounded! worst run I have been on in my life! and I have been doing this for more then 10 years! squares have to be winning! line moves against the public are losing at an incredible rate! yet they were winning at an incredible rate all season till the last 2 weeks.....must be a correction back to 50%.

This is a good thread actually because I was thinking the same thing. The most important thing to do is try not to get sucked into the hype on other peoples thoughts. You just really have to make your own picks and you'll be fine. As of late, the "square" picks are winning but, honestly all this talk about "square" and "sharp" picks just mess with your head and ends up screwing you over in the long run. My best advice is to eliminate the terms square and sharp from your head and you'll make a lot more money this way.

                      everyone won they were square.

now that we are sharp and don't fall for traps, we lose

Look at no coin. The biggest conspiracy theorist on sbr. Everytime there is a play that looks like a trap, he will go and take the other side.

Then you see he goes like 0-2 and 1-5 everynight doing it

But he only bets 10 dollars a game due to small bettor syndrome
