SEC Refs - Worst in the Country - Stats to Prove It!

I've been complaining about the SEC refs for years. They are the worst refs in the country and SEC basketball will always be seen as having "down years" until it gets fixed. I looked up homecourt foul margin by conference.

Average Homecourt Fouls

SEC -2.87
Big12 -2.77
Pac12 -1.46
Big East -1.42
Big10 -1.23
ACC -0.87


Then I looked at how many refs averaged more than -4.0 Homecourt Foul Margin. I picked -4 because I looked at the SEC first and thought it might be average-ish. I guess not.

Refs over -4.0/# of refs in league

SEC - 8/15
Big12 2/12
Big10 2/19
Pac12 2/21
Big East 2/25
ACC 0/17

I just witnessed this first hand tonight. Very interesting I read this thread shortly after. The refs in the Alabama Auburn game were foul happy. Everyone on the ESPN conversation for the game were making all kinds of comments about all the fouls called.

So, out of curiosity, I went to NCAA.com and looked up the records for this year. I took the teams of what would have been the old SEC West except for Mississippi which for some reason did not have this year's results. So, for Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, LSU, and MSU the combined road record through the last weekend of January, first weekend of February was 2-19. Some of the results went through the last weekend in January, some went through this past weekend, but anyway 2-19 shows that there is a problem.
