Im a huge St Johns fan, going back to the days of Lou Carnesecca. I would love nothing more than to see this team get back to national prominence. To compare last years team to this years team is unfair, its a completely different team.... (last years team at Dec 1 was a much better, more talented and smarter senior-laden team than this years team at Dec 1, not even close.) Are you sure St Johns was a 15 point dog last year? I seem to remember the spread being around 12. Anyways, St Johns kept the game close until the end and eventually lost by 7 I think (keep in mind this was the very next game after they pounded a #3 Duke team at the garden by 15). Remember, this team did not only lose Dj Kennedy and Dwight Hardy like you mentioned, they also lost their starting pg and the true leader of that team in Malik Booth. This guy was the heart of that team, what a competitor! Also missing from last year is Justin Brownlee a 6'7 forward that could really score the rock. And Justin Burrell was another quick, athletic big man down low that would compliment Kennedy and Hardy. So last year was completely different than this year. Im thinking of making a small play on st johns +27.5 teased with Georgetown +13.5, i feel much more comfortable about the georgetown +13.5. I can see kentucky beating this st johns team by somewhere around 18-23 or even more. Still not sold on my St Johns team, they have shown me very little this year and tonight they wont be getting bailed out by the refs like in alot of their other games in nyc

I think he is saying that they lost to a bad team even though they shot 35 free throws. That tells you that they either missed a ton of free throws or gave up a lot of possessions(turnovers and/or offensive boards)

Its quite the opposite. If you shoot 35 more FT's than your opposition you should win by double digits 90% of the time, and win 100%. St Johns even missed the last two FT's with 3 sec on clock, and down by 1 point.
They are bad this year. They wil be good, but not anytime soon.
