How do you guys incorporate KenPom into your handicapping?
I finally bit the bullet and spent the $20 for a year subscription. Never really used KenPom before. Needless to say there is a wealth of information on that site and it has already proven invaluable on exploiting a few soft lines which I have taken advantage of.

My question is, with all this information that you could spend literally years pouring over, how do you incorporate it into your individual handicapping?

You use it as another piece of information. You will get buried using KenPom's numbers against the market, whether it's sides or totals. Just like with Sagarin or anyone else. He has said on more than one occasion that the point spread is more accurate than his numbers.

Yeah, I already figured that much....otherwise Vegas would get buried with people simply betting his score predictions.

His offensive, defensive and tempo ratings are the most informative. You get a good sense of the style of play of a team, which is nice.

My first strictly KenPom play pushed last night UNC Wilmington +2 although they led all night and should've won outright. I think I like going over KenPoms free stuff without the actual score predictions. Tonite I'm looking at George Washington +10. Kansas State hasn't played anyone and GW isn't half bad and should hang around.

KS 44 (37th defensively) strength of schedule 343 (out of 350 teams)
            GW 93 (62nd defensively) sos = 167

Ive had great results with KenPom the last few years. In a nutshell , here are some benefits

Learn the FOUR FACTORS, and which teams are specialists in which factors....eg, certain teams play well against teams that crash the off boards.

Easy to click back and forth from game schedule to the profile of those opponents, getting an idea as to how they play against fast, slow and medium paced teams

Having said that, you should also take a look at teamrankings.com, and look at pointspread related info.

              Hope that helps.

correct, use the pace ratings regarding the totals

The pace ratings pretty much match pinnys totals.... not much there... But you can find mismatches with the four factors
