Syracuse -29 vs. Eastern Michigan and the Bernie Fine scandal

Folks, what do you think? Eastern Michigan is terrible and Syracuse usually destroys cupcakes during the early part of their schedule. In a vacuum, Syracuse has no problem covering this spread and wins by at least 35.

I really want to pound this play but what effect do you think the Fine scandal has on Syracuse's focus?

Hasn't had much yet but this is the first game since more news has broke and Fine being let go. So who knows. I am leaning toward Eastern Mich.

Eastern Michigan is one of the worst teams in Division 1, somewhere between New Jersey Tech and Houston Baptist....

These guys shouldn't even be on the same court and Syracuse could cover the 29 in the first half...so I don't feel like it's a lot of points given the circumstance. 19 seemed a lot to lay with Stanford against Pacific and they won by 42...this is an even greater mismatch.

I just see a possibility that Syracuse comes out unfocused in this spot...and that's the only thing scaring me away from this play.

Penn State football team has packed it's bags and stopped trying all together, but this is basketball. Just don't know how distracted the players will be, they could probably win by 50 if they wanted to and were focused.

Cuse scandal isnt nearly as bad as Penn st. Only one coach is involved, not the whole program. I dont see it having an effect.

i also don't see the scandal having very much of an effect. i think syracuse wins by 40 or thereabouts

Don't think it has any effect on the game. I think Rob Murphy being the coach at Eastern Michigan and a former assistant will have more impact on the game. JB might call the dogs off real early and play walk-ons to be kind to his former assistant.

Actually, as a 'Cuse hoops fan, they do not always pound cupcakes early in the season. Been plenty of times in the pasty years where they let poor teams stick around too long. That is one thing I actually LOVE about this team so far. They have for the most part crushed who they should crush. The Va.Tech & Stanford games were a little sketchy, but if they win this by less than the line - it's because Boeheim didn't want to crush his former assistant. Otherwise they should roll seeing as a far less talented Michigan State team just dismantled this squad.

Former Assistant? See this is info I did not know about and info like this makes this a harder game to play actually. I had no plans of betting this game but this is actually valuable info for people who are betting this game to look

Yeah 1st half might be the better way, that way you don't mess with 'Cuse potentially calling the dogs off later and letting EMU slip in to cover.

Id take EMICH+16.5 1st half if anything. Cuse has a history of starting slow against shit teams, but this is the best team they've had in awhile.
