Yes, season ticket holder..Tay Jones is very talented. Hes very quick, can shoot the hell out of the ball, and his ability to get to the line adds alot to his offensive game. His only downside is his size, he reminds me a lot of Allen Iverson when it comes to his style of game. However, he is extremely confident so he doesnt look at his own size as a disadvantage which helps him. Him and Langston Galloway make for a great backcourt for St. Joes, Lang has more size than Jones but has the same scoring ability (30 vs BU, 17 vs PSU, 17 vs IONA, 23 vs Tulsa, 15 vs GT, 19 vs WKY). Chris Wilson, plays point off the bench which is very important because Jones can move to the 2, Galloway to the 3 which opens up more scoring opportunities for both Jones and Galloway. Not much to say about Quarles at the 3, mediocre at best, Martelli knows what hes going to get out of him. (3pts, 1 assist a game) St. Joes front court has made the biggest improvement over the last two seasons. The combination of Aiken, Kanacevic, Ndao, and Roberts provides the Hawks with pretty good depth. Aiken, leads the country in blocks (4.8/game) while also putting up 11 pts 5 rebounds per game. He seems to be improving every game as he continues to gain confidence. His blocking ability is amazing and people are starting to realize this, this has caused teams to change up their offense to work around him. Kanacevic, although frustrating to watch, still remains as a vocal leader for the Hawks. He puts up a consistent 7pts and 6 rebounds a game but he often finds himself in foul trouble. Ndao, is improving every game, doesnt see as much time as other bigs for St. Joes but he plays his role when he gets in. Last, Ron Roberts is as athletic as anybody in the country if he continues to build a post game it will help his game alot. Big game for the Hawks on Saturday vs. Nova, the Holy War will be at Hagan Arena, and will be one of the biggest home games for St. Joes since the Jameer Nelson era. Hagan Arena is very small and will be filled to capacity, I give the edge to St. Joes because of the homecourt advantage in this spot. However, Jones and Galloway's biggest flaw is their defense, they must contain the great guard play from Nova and cant rely on Aiken to clean up every possession. Also, they have tendencies to go on offensive droughts which kill them sometimes, if they can consistently put the ball in the hoop like we have seen many times this season theres no doubt in my mind theyll beat Nova. Dont like to look ahead but a win vs Nova, then two wins vs Coppin St and Morgan St., then a win @ Harvard, we might see the Hawks in the top 25 for the 1st time in a while. Just an interesting thing to think about.
I know the card is garbage tonight. Took CMU +17 following Moz.... Any thoughts on Illinois-Chicago +18.5 vs Oregon st. ? Illinois Chicago hasnt really been blown out, leads oregon st. in rebounding and I just dont see Oregon state winning by 19! ??
AYO nice hit on drexel....just curious on the Irvine game...what hook is there on a 15 pt dog?? can't imagine what you would need a half point for
