THE STORY: Alabama continues its push to gain a first-round bye in the SEC tournament, but will have its hands full at LSU. The Tigers are 3-1 in home conference games, with the only loss coming against No. 1 Kentucky, and have back-to-back games at the Maravich Center. Look for Alabama to use its inside muscle, the successful tactic Vanderbilt used in beating LSU on Saturday. Alabama easily dispatched LSU 69-53 in Tuscaloosa on Jan. 11, as the Tigers shot only 35.8 percent from the field. Alabama has won the last five meetings.

ABOUT ALABAMA (16-7, 5-4 SEC): The Tide continue to struggle to score points (66.4) and depends on their defense to keep the score low and the game close. Alabama has shown signs recently, especially from guard Trevor Releford (12.3 points), who was unstoppable in the first meeting with LSU when he made 9 of 11 from the field and scoring 20 points. JaMychal Green, who was limited to nine points and three rebounds in the first LSU game, leads the team with 14.1 points and 7.2 rebounds. Charles Hankerson Jr. has had two consecutive strong games, including a career-best 14 against Auburn.
ABOUT LSU (13-10, 3-6): Justin Hamilton is the only player in double figures (13.4 points), but he struggled in the first meeting. Hamilton, a 51.5 percent shooter, made 3 of 12 from the floor and scored 12 points. Hamilton has posted two consecutive double-doubles and four this year. Andre Stringer (9.9 points) scored 13 against the Tide in the first game. LSU continues to struggle on 3-pointers. The Tigers were 3 for 21 against Vanderbilt and are making 32.3 percent for the year.
TIP-INS:
1. LSU must be encouraged by having only six turnovers against Vanderbilt, nearly seven fewer than its average.
2. Alabama scored 26 points off turnovers in its last game against Auburn.
3. No word on when Alabama coach Anthony Grant will lift the suspension on Tony Mitchell (13.1 points, 7.0 rebounds), who was set aside for his poor conduct.Comment -

the LSU game was BECAUSE 3 alabama players were suspended late. the game was taken off the board at most books and opened 3 pts the other way...it was not necessarily big money. the books moved this line from the suspensions. i'm sure steam chasers piled on though. i got in at -2Comment -
