    2011-2012 Big10 Write Up
Well everyone the time for the College Basketball Season is drawing closer and closer and as it draws closer and closer I keep putting more and more money aside to fund my account when the season opens finally. This year we will be introduced to the Carrier Classic along with the Champions Classic http://thechampionsclassic.com/

But first lets talk Big 10 Basketball and break these teams down. Alright first I am going to break down the Conference into who I think will win the Conference outright and as follows all the way to the team who I think will finish last in the conference. Lets do this boys. Ok so I forgot the Conference is split into two divisions now. So at the very end I will post the Divisions.

    1.Ohio St.
    2.Michigan
    3.Illinois
    4.Michigan St
    5.Purdue
    6.Indiana
    7.Minnesota
    8.Wisconsin
    9.Nebraska
    10.Iowa
    11.Northwestern
    12.Penn St.

    Analysis.

    Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Buckeyes return the best player in the country in Jarred Sullinger. This is stupid of me to even say because the entire country knows who he is. He is a straight NBA lotto pick. He has been eating healthier all summer and is looking for a National Championship. He also has the returns of easily one of the craftiest defensive minded players in the B10 Conference in Sophmore Aaron Craft. This team is young and youthful. They have a talented attack oriented program and will reak havoc once again. William Buford will be the soul of the team. I am not positive but im pretty sure he is still around. If so though Buford will be the leader. The guys are going to be looking to Buford to command them on their journey this year. And look at the fking freshmen class of players they have coming in this year its an astonishing loaded class of players. This years class is easily better then last years freshmen class. If we think Sullinger is good lets take a look at Shannon Scott and ESPNU 100 player, McDonalds All American and a Jordan Brand player. He is going to be an incredible point guard that this team needs. Along with Scott comes 3 more ESPNU 100 players and a 4th highly touted prospect in Trey Mcdonald who was not recruited very highly considering how good of a player he is. This years Buckeye team has SIZE,SPEED, and a mother load of ATHLETICISM.

    -------------------------------

    Michigan Wolverines

A lot of you guys probably think im dumb as a box of rocks putting Michigan at the #2 spot in the Big10. But lets remember this is the spot I think that they will finish when the Season is over and we go into March Madness. This being said the Wolverines are looking high and mighty this year. Last year they almost pulled off a huge upset in the dance against Duke and are looking to come back this year hungrier then ever. The Wolverines have surpassed the Spartans in the state of Michigan and are looking to make another appearance in the NCAAs. Lets look at the fact that they return Zack Novak. Now many of you guys surely know who this player is and many of you just know him as the white guy on the team probably. But he is the mold of the team and will looking for his glory this year. Tim Hardaway Jr. is growing and will mold into a great player for the program. He sets his goals high and wants to achieve great things . Oh yea Novak he wont be known as the only white boy on the team this year. Lets remember the name Nik Stauskas.

    --------------------------------
    Fighting Illini

Ahhhhhhh the Fighting Illini of Illinois. I grew up in the state of Illinois so I have the most dirt on the players that Bruce Weber recruits because I know what kind of programs these kids are coming from. The state of Illinois produces the most Division 1 prospects in the country. But reason being because of CHICAGO BALL. Weber finally got rid of his Seniors and a dumb kid in Richmond. Lets make way for the new crew so they can get some business done. This team is going to be lead by Brandon Paul, Dj Richardson, and Meyers Leonard. The three of these players alone are going to be a dynamic threat. The country will get to see who Meyers Leonard finally is this year. And as usual another highly touted freshmen class is on their way this year and will be lead by 5 ESPNU 100 prospects. This team will mold easily. I am not worried about this team having any problems molding together and playing a unique form of basketball. It will be a high tempo offense and the ball is going to be pushed up the court constantly. And I do expect a lot of shots from behind the arc on transition if they cant find Leonard underneath. They wont reset offense as much as they probably should but this doesn't bother me because im not expecting them to be patient.

    ------------------------------------------

    Michigan St. Spartans.

The IZZONE is going to be rocking once again. With no preseason havoc going on this year I wonder if the Spartans can pull things together. Considering they are going from the Carrier Classic playing UNC and then going to the Champions Classic. Those are make or break games. But Tom Izzo himself said this is the best time of the season to find out who you are as a team and to jockey and guage yourself and your program against the other top programs in the country. Better to lose now then to lose late in the season when the entire country sees it happen. Coach Izzo is going to have an interesting year this year. He needs his key player like Delvon Roe to be healthy this year, Keith Appling to step up his game HUGE and Derrik Nix to MAN THE FUK UP . Izzos Freshmen class this year is one of the weakest ones he's had in a while. He has one extremely highly touted freshmen coming in namd Bradnen Dawson he is the #5 Small Forward in the Country and an ESPNU100 Mcdonalds All American

    Purdue BoilerMakers.

Mr. Robbie Hummel is back for his Senior Year After having to sit out last year again! Purdue is going to be an interesting team to watch. They have one of the loudest and best home court advantages in the country but is it going to be enough to propel Hummel back into the NCAAs. Lets take a look at who he has helping him out. Moore and Johnson have graduated and gone on to bigger things in life but Hummel has a lot of help around him. I feel like I might be misjudging this team as I write this write up on the Boilermakers. Lewis Jackson will be a glue player for Hummel this year. I expect huge things from Jackson this year he is a great player. Ryne Smith will be in his Senior year and his game has just gotten better and better and better over his tenure at Purdue. Kelsey Barlow will see a lot of minutes this year. As far as freshmen coming in this year. Purdue isnt known for recruiting insane classes they have 2 pretty highly ranked freshmen coming in to play and they will be great additions to the program. Neither is a ESPNU100 player but that doesnt mean anything for a program like Purdue. They will develop into excellent players.

    Indiana Hoosiers

Tom Crean is finally coming to together. Things are going his way right now and things can be very special this year at Indiana. He managed to get a hold of Cody Zeller an ELITE ESPNU 100 prospect who will open things up a fk load for Christian Watford. Maurice Creek will have a break out year along with Verdell Jones and the big man downlow Tom Pritchard Will get to have a great Senior year will Cody Zeller helping him out a lot. Indiana has a great team im not kidding when I saw this these kids can play ball they really are a good team and can sneak into the NCAAs. It would be a magical year if they made it into the NCAAs because Creans 2012 class would just inflate all the hype for the following year and make his life a lot nicer.

    Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Tubby Smith is back and has a pretty talented group of players returning. I would expect an NCAA birth this year from the program, but we shall see. He has the likes of Ralph Sampson, Trevor Mbawke , Colton Iverson, and 2 ESPNU 100 Freshmen joining I see this Gopher team turning into a high power offense with the addition of their 2 freshmen who are going to be scorers. I dont have much to say about this team. I no the players and I no they will be good and underrated by the public going into the season. When you think of Minnesota you dont really think of College Basketball. Considering it is easy as hell to get accepted into UofM.

    -----------------------------------------------

    Wisconsin Badgers

Im dont have much dirt on this team. The Badgers arnt a team I tradionally follow all that closely. But they will be lead by Senior Jordan Taylor. Taylor is the Anchor. The ball is going to be in his hands in the late game possesions. He is going to be taking the final shot. HE is going to be getting in his teammates faces. This is his Senior Year and he is going to go out HARD. Im looking at statistics from last year because like I said im weak on this team, but im looking to see Mike Bruesewitz step up a lot along with Rob Wilson. Wisconsin Brings in two Highly Touted freshmen this year one of them being an ESPNU 100 player. Jarrod Uthoff the #14 Power Forward in the class of 2011.

    Nebraska Corn Huskers

The Huskers join the B10 this year in their first season as apart of the B10 Conference in Basketball. Lets first realize that this team is fking deep. Their bench is probably going to be the deepest in the Big10 this year. Im reading up on Nebraska because I honestly dont have much on them because they werent apart of the Big10 and I followed Big10 Ball closer then Big12 Ball. But dam they only graduated 3 Seniors. The top scorer is gone but other then that I might have this team positioned in the wrong spot. This might be interesting. I will NOT be suprised if they make a lot of noise this year. This team is going to have to play with more heart though. I can already see by the numbers they are not a talented group of players. They just love to play the game.

    Iowa Hawkeyes

Fran Mccaffery is doing the same thing Tom Crean is doing. He is being patient and structuring a program. This Hawkeye team is building slowly and they are waiting to the 2012 class to arrive but for now we have to look at this years 2011 program. Seven out of the eights team leading scorers are returning and lowly ranked class of freshmen is joining. Lets be realistic though if this freshmen class was at SIENA they would be a highly ranked program. Which is why I expect this from Mccaffery he knows how to turn players into men.

    Northwestern Wildcats

ehhhhh yea ok You have John Shurna back for his Senior year that is spectacular news for the program. And Jershonn Cobb to help him out. I honestly dont have much to say .

Appreciate the previews OverUnderCollege. Here's a few things that went through my mind as I read your writeups.

Ohio State....Yeah, Buford is back...Yeah they can only beat themselves.

Michigan...I think any analysis of Michigan has to raise the question of who will do the work done last year by PG Darius Miles. They've got nobody developed to replace him, and he was that team's engine. Agree that Michigan has good players who seem to buy into the Bielein principles, but they've got stuff to figure out. I wonder why Jordan Dumars left the program...I thought he might contribute this year if Hardaway tries the point.

Illinois...Interesting speculation about the tempo these guys will play at...if you're right they might be a good over team early. I wonder if Bruce Webber might rein them in trying to get them to play defense...they have the athletes to be good defenders, but it's wait-and-see on whether these offensively-oriented players will play well enough on both sides of the ball to evolve into a top three conference spot.

MSU...Last year point guard Appling had more TO's than A's...I see him as the key read. Will also be looking to see if Valpo transfer Brandon Wood (led Valop in scoring two years ago) will contribute, and if shooting phenom Russell Byrd (red shirt freshman) can translate his game into real time.

Purdue...You didn't mention that this team is smallish. That makes the development of Travis Carroll who didn't get many minutes, but was at least on the court last year, a key read. This is the kind of team that I expect to make money off of if they get smacked around a little early. They have guys that will accept their roles, and will eventually fall into them and become a tough out. For this reason, I'll be rooting for them to start slow.

Indiana...I'm not sold that Zeller is going to help Pritchard, but agree that this is a team that can move way up. I'll even look for them to cover some -6 to -15 point spreads early as they exorcise their last few years of sucking.

Minnesota...Colton Iverson got sick of Tubby's promises and left the team...Mbakwe is a First Round pick...but who's going to get him the ball? There's an opportunity for a Minnesota guard to become a star, and I"m sure they've been working hard and someone could step up...but I have to see it, I can't assume it. Don't agree that Minnesota doesn't get respect...Tubby is still a name brand people know they're big...I thought Minnesota was consistently overvalued LY.

Wisconsin...I think you've got them too low...For most teams that lose as much as they lost it would be a rebuilding year....but Taylor is POY material, and this is a system team which means players were recruited for roles and will fill them pretty quick. If they struggle non-conference I think they'll offer good value during the first go-around of conference games.

Nebraska...Team plays principled, committed defense and is the kind of team that will catch a top-tier team coming off a big win napping...Agree they are deep and could be good, but probably won't be given they have to adjust to every team they play (while conference opponents only have to adjust to them). They have to break in a new point guard, so when I break their games down that will be my first read.

Northwestern...Has four returning starters, though they will have to break in a new point guard...though that's not such a big deal for a pass and cut team...I would guess that they'll offer value as short to medium favorites over worse teams that are in an earlier stage of development.

Penn State...New coaches with low expectations can get a lot done pointsperad wise...I'll let them find their way first half of season, and look to back as big dogs or as 2H'ers if I see any signs of buy-in and development.

Good Shit BOOKIE! I completely forgot about that VALPO kid transfering to MSU. I read everything I just forget all about a lot of stuff because so much happens during the off season.

And I agree Taylor will be great for Wisconsin, but im just having a really really hard time buying into Wisconsin this year.

Minnesota I didnt realize Iverson left the program good catch much appreciated.

I'd love your take on WCC or CAA...maybe we can cross-check each other on those. The big conferences are less interesting to me since they're so well covered.

Michigan St takes a huge blow as apparently I spoke to soon lmao. I thought the Spartans had a quite off season going into the preseason but apparently not. Poor Izzo losing his best player

Delvon Roe, the rugged forward who helped Michigan State make it to a pair of Final Fours, has decided to quit the basketball team because of knee pain.

Delvon Roe retires Im gonna have to shuffle the rankings perhaps. Not sure yet

maybe I might be so what though I'm putting myself out there right now because this is what I think. I don't see anybody else on this forum who posts their actual thoughts on analyzing teams this early though so I'm gonna naturally defend myself until i see some real insight with analysis on what people think will happen in the leagues also
