Arkansas signs Missouri's Mike Anderson as new Head Coach
Arkansas officials are expected to meet with Missouri coach Mike Anderson later Wednesday and, according to sources, a contract offer and Anderson's acceptance of it appear to be a formality.

This was actually a really really good sign by Arkansas because they have no patience when it comes to basketball. They expect their team to be good and didnt give Pelphrey their last coach a chance to even build a program. Anderson on the other hand built a powerful program in a short amount of time and will do it at Arkansas also because Arkansas has an elite class of freshmen coming in to play next year and they will be a ranked team in the preseason polls next year.

Here is their recruiting class for 2011-2012 season and if he can keep this class of players to stay and play for him this could get really interesting because Pelhrey did the work signing the players and he gets fired after signing one of the best classes in the country lmao

From Missouri, and though I de-pledged my allegiance to that raging disappointment of an athletic program at Mizzou, I can say that Anderson will have only moderate success. Good athletic teams blow that press up badly, and now the worst thing for Mizzou is that they have to implement a whole new system now with players that have been coached to press instead of play real offense and defense. They're lost, and will be for years because they thought it was awesome to bring on a Nolan clone that took advantage of a soft conference with a gimmick system before that.

There's a reason why tons of teams run the Princeton offense, but only a few run "40 minutes of hell". One works consistently, one doesn't.

Once Mike Anderson can find a guy who can rebound, then he will have a top 5 team.

He'll benefit from Pelphrey's incoming class, not to mention they have most of their players coming back. Let's revisit this thread in a few years once he has to bring his own players in. The guy is a good coach, and he has proven it somewhat at Mizzou, but time will tell how well he will do. Exhibit A: Tubby Smith at KY.
