Marquette vs. North Carolina

I'm torn on this game. Marquette has the better Williams on the sidelines, and they're a gutsy group. If they get into a track meet with UNC, though, they're going to be in serious trouble. A lot depends on if Marquette can hang in there early.

I'm leaning Marquette +4.5, but not feeling that great about it.

I love marquette in this game. Buzz will have them slow the pace down because he is a solid coach IMO. UNC has YET to play anything but a track meet. It will burn them in this one, I think Marquette wins SU

I like Marquette to. UNC should have lost last round to UW if it wasn't for the officials. Marquette +4.5 for sure, not sure if I have the guts to bet the ML on Marquette.

I like Marquette +4.5 and the UNDER in this game. I think Marquette will play a more physical match up and defend the perimeter well against UNC.

so ur telling me that saying the ACC hasnt proven its better than the Big East????? UNC is one of the better ACC teams playing the last team to get in for the big east....UNC will win...only reason marquette lost to syracuse is because scoop had that game fixed WINNING DUHHHHHH

Marquette has played strong so far this tourney. I could definitely see them covering and would love for them to win SU.

Yea, i loved washington and made a monster play on them but their style didn't contrast enough with UNC's. Marquette is almost the complete opposite of Carolina and those seem to be the teams the Tar Heels struggle most with.

Plus Marquette can play a little defense and they aren't a stupid team like those retards from Washington. They may struggle with UNC's length tho.

As a Carolina fan, I will disagree with Rbyrne's argument that the ACC is better than the Big East. The ACC is very top heavy with Duke and Carolina... Florida State is hot right now but I see them and Marquette about equal if they all played in the same conference. I don't think anyone can say the ACC is a better conference than the Big East because that would mean you are discussing all the teams in the league. It's common sense that the Big East is much deeper, therefore, they are a better league. Now when were comparing ACC and Big East success in the tourney so far the ACC has over achieved (with 3 teams in the Sweet 16) and out achieved the Big East (2 teams in the Sweet 16). That doesn't mean its a better conference though. This is one of the worst ACC's I've seen. This is just my opinion though.

The ACC has decent depth but outside of FSU, UNC, and Duke the rest were basically a logjam of NIT teams (not in a bad way, just saying they all had the capable to be decent outside of Wake).

Marquette has beat Notre Dame, Syracuse, UConn (on the road!), and West Virginia twice

UNC has beat Kentucky, Duke, Washington, and Clemson twice (3 poorly coached teams and 1 team that just doesn't have the talent)

EDIT: UNC hasn't beat a top 25 team according to Ken Pom on the road ALL YEAR

Do you guys really think Marquette can handle UNC's size? Even if Marq slows them down and makes it a half court game, they will still have to defend the post. I guess zone the hell out of them and hope Barnes isn't on fire... I don't know. UNC -4.5 is the play IMO.

This is the problem on sbr....no one is discussing games to make money. They are just bashing each other stating dumb fuking things.

I agree that Marquette should be the play here, the closer these games get to the championship (Sweet 16/Elite 8/Final 4) the more they become a half court defensive slugfest, this is why even is UNC is in trouble. They just want to get out and run and they operate poorly out of the half court set.
