i dont see how... OSU already beat them on the road... they are coming off a loss so you know they're gonna be out for blood, especially in front of the home crowd... and to make things worse for Illinois, sullinger is definitely listening to miley before the game which always spells disaster for the opposition

The key to any road game: make your jump shots. And considering Illinois takes more jump shots than layups in every single game they're going to have to come up big this time. I don't know if its possible since McCamey has largely checked out. Illinois can still throw 7 footers at Sullinger but against legit big men guys like Tisdale and Davis tend to get into foul trouble.

The question is whether Ohio State will sit back in a zone, as they've done in the past against the Illini, or play aggressive perimeter man-to-man as they did the game in Champaign. Illinois loves it when teams sit back as the Illini are jump shooters. This is how they beat the Buckeyes on the road in 2009 to put the Illini in the NCAA tournament and had the Buckeyes on the ropes last year in the BTT (until favorable officiating for Evan Turner swung the game). I think Matta has learned from his errors. He's going to pressure the Illini nonstop. Craft will get away with lots of fouls on McCamey since he's a white boy playing at home. This will slow down the Illini offense, and, as earlier posts itt made clear, the Illini don't have the big men to slow down Sullinger. I like the Buckeyes in this one.

Illinois hasn't fared well against top teams on the road or at home for that matter. Ohio St. lost 2 of last 3 and have more weapons offensively. It's a fair price, but Illinois would have to keep this a low scoring affair. Looks a little risky. I think that there are better opportunities tonight.

I understand the attraction to take large money line favorites because of their high probability for the win. That being said, playing large money line favs long term is a recipe for disaster in my opinion.

One thing to remember is that Illinois is clearly the 2nd most talented team in the Big Ten behind Ohio State. However, Illinois is one of the worst teams in the nation at getting to the free throw line which means don't expect to see OSU's ultra-short bench taxed by foul trouble. Against Indiana, the Illini got into the bonus with 12:30 left in the game and only scored 17 2nd half points.

I teased both teams in a 11.5 point teaser with the Celts and Lakers. Illinois has 10 losses but have been in every game. Ohio State will most likely win this one, but Utep ml was the only game that killed me yesterday, so no more big money line straight up plays until the tourney.
