penn st -2 info. your thoughts
Penn state has the 6th ranked schedule in the nation and is 12-4 at home while going 6-7 in big ten play. They're only real signature home win was a 4 point win over Wisconsin, while they played Ohio St and Purdue very, very tough on the road. Penn scores average of 64 ppg while allowing about 63 ppg on defense. Penn is 5-1 ATS in last 6 home games. 7-3 ATS in last 10 big ten games and 5-2 ATS following a cover and also has covered 7 of their last 9 home games vs Minn.....
Minn schedule ranks 28th in the nation going 6-7 in big ten play and 3-5 on the road.
Minn averages 71 ppg and gives up 67 ppg.

Minn is 1-4 ATS in last 5 big ten games. 7-18 ATS as road underdog, but 4-1 ATS as road dog of up to 6.5 points..

Penn offense shoots average 43.2% while the defense allows 43.6% and Penn is 282nd in offensive rebounding but are 18th in defensive rebounding...
Minn offense shoots 46% while allowing only 40%. They grab about 39 offensive boards a game while the defense is 132nd in that category......

A few of the shooting and rebounding stats make me lean Minn, but Penn 18th ranked defensive rebounding is clutch, while they're offensive boards aren't so much. Minn has some real ugly loses while the erratic Penn state team has played some of the conferences, not to mention the nations, top teams tough....tight game for awhile but I like Penn to step away with it in the end...

Penn St -2 in happy valley

I am thinking of taking Minny, waiting for +3

Battle has fallen short of double-digit scoring just once this season, so stopping him is nearly impossible. In order to contain him, the Gophers will need to keep pressure on him the whole game, something they successfully managed last season when they held him to a combined 10-for-29 shooting (34.5 percent) in two games — both Gophers wins.
Another way to stop Battle is to simply offset his scoring, and the best candidate to do that could be Williams. The Gophers are 6-0 this season when Williams scores in double figures, and the 6-foot-7 now-guard could flourish in a matchup against Penn State’s 6-foot-1 sophomore guard Tim Frazier. If Williams plays like he did against Iowa on Sunday, when he scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half, the Gophers could be well-rounded enough to walk away with a road victory that would do wonders for their tournament résumé.

And Minny has the rebounding margin edge.

I think the line is pretty good here. Minn is a tough team. Not quite as tough since Nolan has been out but they have some good players. Penn st is also very tough at home especially. Battle and Brooks are good. Im going to stay away from this one.

good size play on Minny. Will dominate the glass and force PSU to 1 and done. Unless Battle goes off, Minny wins this game IMO

Penn also could use more wins towards a tournament berth so I see them coming out pumped and ready to play, especially at home where the crowd can really rock and throw off the visiting teams flow, chemistry, communication, nerves..all that. If this game were nuetral or at Minn especially, id stay far away. But I honestly think the homecourt crowd gives Penn state a few points advantage. Unless Penn state just doesn't marchioness well against Minn like that one post says..that's the info I'm not really sure about so its hard to make the bet when I'm not sure if the player matchups just favor minn enough to negate home court...

To me this game is like playoff hockey...you might have to take the team @ home reguardless of whos better on a day to day basis......

Minnesota is a tough team to play against. Hard not to take the points here.

Small play on PSU. I think they will keep it close. Minny is not a very good road team.

I would say Penn State huge if the gophers would have lost in Iowa. Iowa was a 1 to 2 point favorite against the gophers also. Minnesota ended up winning by about 20pts didn't they? Be careful here as I don't think MN is packing the season up just yet imo.
