Xavier at Duq...whats going on here?

From what I understand Xavier was given 5 points, over 70% of the public was on them and the line went up to 5.5?

What in the hell does that mean?


I have action on Xav ML and this is a little concerning

You have to remember that consensus numbers don't calculate the amount of money on each side, just the number of bets.

Sure 70% may be on Xavier, but if they're all casuals betting $50 a piece while the 30% on Duq are dropping $500 a piece then the line is going to shift against the public to try and balance the big bets.

fwiw I am on Duquense. Xavier lost their last confrence game on the road @ 10-14 Charlotte as a 8.5 point favorite they lost that game 62-66. Duquense lost their last game @ St Bonaventure as a 8.5 point favorite. The Bonnies had a very hot night shooting going %46 overall and %46.2 from 3 while shooting %80 from the charity stripe. I am looking for them to bounce back in this spot here today and make a statement in the A-10. Before the St Bonaventure game Duquense had won and covered the spread in their last 9 games looking for them to get back on that track today.

X lost that game because Tu Holloway had the worst game of his career. He went 3-17 from the field (0-8 from 3 point land) and had 6 turnovers. Most of those shots were good looks too. That game was the definition of a fluke.

Xavier understands the importance of the game, has played a much tougher non conference schedule, SOS Xavier 28 to Duq's 138. They played Seton Hall, Gonzaga, Florida, Cincinnati, Iowa, Georgia
And Xavier has a GREAT go-to guard, Holloway.
I lean to Xavier + 5.5.
