They've been pretty bad, but the betting market still treats them as a top team.
They've got to be one of the worst in the country at covering spreads.

They're a dangerous team because they can play with anyone. They played at Duke and were covering for most of the game until they fell apart in the second half. It's hard to figure them out because they also play down to their competition, see their games against Chaminade and Penn state. Better to just stay away I think!

I would not fade them at the Breslin but good luck if you do. Izzo knows how to work the refs especially at home. On the road is another story though

They're 6-7 ATS.
I do like betting against them (always have) but skipping this one at home against Wisc.

Saturday I equated them to Tennessee... can lose to anybody, can beat anybody, just depends on which team shows up.

Hmmm, good point.
But in their non-covers, they've come not even close.
See Chaminade (favored by 30 something, won by 8), Penn State, UConn (favored by 6.5, lost outright), Syracuse (favored by 4.5, lost by double digits), and Texas.

I fade them...at least I get a win-win out of it haha...
They've looked pretty bad all season...4 of the 5 losses are against top 25 teams but...they haven't shown much of anything aside from a good win against Washington...which they played like shit too.
That's why they're dangerous...because they haven't played one good game this year...but really only lost to one sub-par team.
I wouldn't bet on them though...bi-polar team.

part of the reason those teams get so much respect are their wins over Michigan State, which in hindsight, shouldn't be treated as great wins.
The win over Washington is the only win that could be considered a good win, while they've had several abysmal games.
Basically I wouldn't bet on them, period. I'm trying to decide whether to start fading.
I started a thread advocating a bet on them and those fukkers barely even covered that!

I mean...you're best bet would be to fade until you see signs of life in the team...because they have the ability to go off at any time...though they haven't shown it this year.
But as most said, tonight may not be a good night to start fading them...though the 3.5 for Wisc. is tempting...
As a State fan I don't bet on them or against them...but this year I would for sure NOT bet on them.

I think they have the talent to put it together at some point, but turnovers, bad decisions, and bad ft shooting are killing them. They're definitely overrated right now, but I'd watch for them towards the end of the year when Izzo gets them turned around and they'll probably be underrated due to all these early season losses.

that's ridiculous, there's no way MSU misses the tourny. They'll be in comfortably, but even if they were on the border, they'd be in on reputation alone.

You just can't handicap for that.
Wisconsin spread a winner, ML a loser. No thanks for the jinx.

Michigan State is the worst in the AP top 25 when it comes to covering the spread.
On average, they're about -5, meaning they miss the cover by 5 points.
In contrast, Cincinnati is better than +10.

I missed this.
Only Mush Landers could post this and have Wisconsin of all teams turn the ball over three times after the final TV timeout and lose a 9-point lead in the last two minutes.
You, sir, are gifted.

It's always a good time to fade Michigan State.
The lines are adjusted for their opponent. I don't care that much who they're playing, although I'd rather fade them when they're favored.
If they were a 7+ point underdog, I'm not sure I'd do it.
