      UNI

Northern Iowa is Wayyyyy down. They beat some teams this year on neutral courts (ie Indiana, TCU). The reasoning is, they play defense like noone in the country. So they can sneak up on teams outside the valley that arent used to the defense that their coaches preach and that they bring every night. There is a reason they were top 5 in the country in scoring defense last year and it wasnt because they play in the Valley. They have no post play to speak of. They start a 6' 8 center who doesn't have a clue how to score in the paint and shoots threes all game. Their 4 man is 6'5, maybe. They also lost their top 3 scorers from the team that beat kansas. Watch out for large spreads at home vs weaker opponents. (ill st) Rarely will cover them.

Missouri State is the real deal, don't sleep on them winning the conference. They've gone to UNI, Creighton, and Wichita and won at all 3 venues. Neither is an easy place to win.

I think MVC is one of the harder conferences to cap. They are usually easier to cap when playing out of conference opponents.

Thanks for the post. I don't follow that conference closely and I appreciate your input.

I am very high on Wichita St. this year and was surprised to see Missouri St. beat them last week. Both of these are on my radar.

          Good Luck on your action....

I've gotten destroyed on the Valley, and have taken it off as one my 6 capping conferences, which is now down to 5.

I think I'm 0-5 this year, and getting blown out in 4 of the 5. I can't get a read on Creighton, Indiana St or Northern Iowa.

Big Valley fan here myself, and have been doing well with it so far this year. Let me just throw this out there, Wichita St and Missouri St are the class of the Valley this year, and they'll run away with it. I think UNI (my team BTW), Creighton, and Indiana St can beat anybody, or lose to anybody in the conference. I do respectfully disagree with your analysis on UNI, bwing. You're right that they don't have much of a post presence, but O'Rear is the center (not Koch) and he will bash around down there. Koch does need to play in the paint some more, but after his 35 point outburst on Sunday, I think he may be finding his way. They have (in my opinion) the best coach in the Valley, so I don't think you should really sleep on them either. Like I said, they can beat anybody, or lose to anybody. They're tough to beat at home, but really struggling so far on the road.

Either way though bwing, what you have for the Valley tonight? I'm completely in love with Wichita St tonight. I also like Indiana St to stay hot. I kind of like Illinois St, but I'm not gonna bet against my guys. The other two games are a tough call, I think the lines will be about right. I'd take Evansville and Mo St if you made me pick. What are your thoughts?
