    Few Plays for Monday
    Pacific -4
    Montana St -1
    St Johns +5

These are just leans, but I've reviewed basically all of the card and this is all I've found. Two very entertaining games on tommorow, unfortunately both are late and I have a huge exam Tuesday. Miami/Memphis should be interesting and so should St Johns/St Marys.

I like St Johns because they return 10 SENIORS who played well at times last year in the toughest conference in the country. St Mary's loses the KEY to the team in Omar Samhan and another big in Ben Allen. These guys made it possible for the guards to get good looks from outside. Now, the guards will be the focal point of the team and it should be interesting to see how they handle it. I do like St Mary's, but I can't back them against a battle tested, veteran squad like St Johns. St John's isn't big by any means, but they will out-athlete St Mary's at the wing positions and they certainly don't have worse bigs.

Nice analysis on the St. John's/St. Mary's games. I totally agree and already have that as one of my plays for tomorrow. Lavin is going to have his veteran squad ready to go.

Pacific is favored not the dog.

I like to do my own research but NCAA b-ball isn't really my thing. You're picks have been doing great. Keep it up. I'm going to keep tailing and hopefully we keep winning.

          TPowell,

What are your thoughts on the Miami / Memphis game? I am leaning Memphis but the line just jumped at The Greek from -5.5 to -7

Memphis lost 4 starters I believe. Miami lost 1 or maybe 2. I would lean Memphis but I'm not putting my money on a young coach like Pastner and a team FULL of freshman in November

St. Johns is definitely a veteran team, but they are not accustomed to travelling especially to the West Coast. For teams like St. Marys, any time they play a big conference team its like a tournament/playoff game. Also, as experienced as St. Johns is, this is their first year under a new system (coach). This has to count for something. I know they have had an entire offseason, but it is going to take time for them to learn Lavin's system. This offsets their experience some. In my opinion, this is either SMU -5 or no play. Probably a no play for me though. Just some food for thought. BOL on your plays.

St Mary's will be drastically different, they have no bigs inside. Montana State line up to -4

Do you think Montana is still good at -4??

This is pretty right on...Saint Mary's has very few games on their schedule that can improve their tourney résumé. This is one of them and they know it. Gaels play well at home, have an abundance of guards....This game will be at 2AM SJ time. ...But it is Lavin's first game and I always like that angle. Gaels have almost no bigs.... A lot of factors here.

TP, I have followed you for the past few seasons and it looks like you are your normal self with a winning record. For the memphis game, it is going to be nuts. I live here and know that this is the one thing this city lives for. People are taking off work like its the monday after the superbowl. I am anxious to see how their big time recruits do but Miami is going to have to strap it on to keep this one close.

Does anyone like Tulane at +21, they lost by 15 or so last year against GT when the spread was -10 for GT

not saying your play wont hit but the Gaels do have 3 solid 6'9 guys and Rob Jones(transfer san diego) who can all bang. not as tall as last year but grittier more physical this year. Ben Allen was a perimeter player as well. GL

I would venture to say that St John's has the better athletes out of program differences. St Mary's was an anomily (sp) because of the play of Omar Samhan. Without Samhan, St Mary's will have to work MUCH harder to get those open looks they love so much
