I'd say the total number is closer to 5,000. Estimate 345 Division I teams at 30 games each; that gets you to about 4,800 there. Add in conference tournaments, the ncaa tournament and the other postseason exercises . . . might be slightly over 5,000.

First games usually are around Nov. 15.
