why with only 5 seconds difference on the shot clock to game clock did RI not foul right off the bat to extend the game????? UNC didn't make FT's. why put yourself in that position to have to go full court with a running clock and only 5 ticks to do it? poor coaching, poor playing.... poooooooooooooor refs, but i am not blaming them.

these are the one's that sting's the most. This was one of the worst game's I ever seen. The coaching should be blamed as much as the kids, players. It just seems in college basketball FT shooting is getting worse and not taught (shooting, proper mechanics, etc). There are so many horrible FT shooters at this level. All I can say is chalk this one up as a bad beat and the one's that were laughing and won will have there bad beats soon enough. What come's around goes around, enough said. NEXT GAME

Yea you absolutely have to foul there. If UNC takes a shot with 1 second on the clock, then you're looking at 3 seconds or so if the rebound doesn't come off perfectly. Besides the rebound isn't a sure thing.

That said, Rhode Island got a perfect chance. UNC had 4 men inside and the rebound came off long, leaving a 2 on 1 fastbreak if Rhode Island gained control of the ball immediately, and then wasn't tripped up.
