West Virginia possesses the size that can disrupt Kentucky. Kentucky is a poor outside shooting team, and WV forces teams to take outside shoots. The shots WV forces teams to take are usually challenged, and rebounded by WV.
As long as West Virginia can contain Cousins, they will have a great chance at the upset.
WV has to out-rebound, and have great transition D. They are capable of both.

Books tried to move the line to -4.5, but quickly had to go back to -4, b/c Sharps devoured that line.

Kentucky doesnt match up well with WVU. WVU is probably the biggest and most athletic team Kentucky will face the rest of the tourney. Both these teams can win the whole thing. I am a Kentucky fan, but this game is going to make me nervous. I think it will go down to the wire. Cant wait for Saturday. DeMarcus Cousins is a beast in the paint......I think he is the key to game. If he goes off and ends up needing to be double and triple teamed that leaves all the other shooters including Mr John Wall wide open. That could spell lights out WVU. Im just concerned that Kentucky hasnt been tested at all....they havent even had to try and they have been killing squads. Can only imagine what happens when they actually put forth some effort. I have a big future on UK to win the region. Payed a hefty price for it and there is no hedging this one its feast of famine. I really wish coack cal was a bit more creative and recruited a guy like lee humphrey who was huge for UF when they won those titles. Butler has played horrible in WV's win's. He really has struggled, and they've been crushing teams. I think he finally gets it going next week. I think Patterson will probably guard him, he's just too strong for anyone else, maybe Bledsoe.
Butler and Turner in the finals? I see Turner securing his team a spot for sure. He's just too dynamic of a player, can carry a team, unlike Wall. Let's see how Kentucky handles Butler. After three consecutive blowouts I think the betting public will bet heavily on Kentucky in this matchup. In my opinion, this could end up being the most entertaining game of the tournament. because of the lenght and athleticism of WVU, Kentucky will not have the advantage they have had in the first three rounds. I do feel Cousins will be the difference maker inside for UK. Both squads have proven that they can get very cold from outside & if WVU stands a chance they will need the experience of Butler to win out over the youth of the go-to guys on Kentucky probably a no-play for me, but I have a future on WVU +2000, so I know who I'll be pulling for. This is the longest and most athletic team UK has probably faced all year. WVU will give them fits. But this is also the best rebounding team WVU has faced, maybe all year, but definitely in the last few weeks.
Both teams are terrible in half court offense, but UK is especially bad. They have 2 offensive plays. Wall beat his man off the dribble and dishes/drops off. Or occasionally Paterson/Cousin will get a good entry pass, but that's rare. If UK had to go against a set WVU half court defense for the entire game, they would be lucky to crack 45. Transition points for UK, and obviously WVU TO, will be the biggest factor in the game. I've watched almost every WVU game this year, I've never seen anything like what I watched last night. There were so many lazy passes yesturday. It really wasn't the lack of a ball handler against the UW pressure that was the problem, it was careless passes in the half court set. That's something that can be fixed, it's not a defeciency.
I hate to say it, but officiating will play a huge part in the game Saturday. Both teams are so physical on the boards and on D. WVU likes to take charges, and UK has a few guys wilingl to crash into defender. How those calls go will determine a lot in the game. If Smith & Jones can stay out of foul trouble, they are excellent post defenders that can handle Patterson/Cousin/Orton.
If the game was played 10 times, I think UK would win 6. It should be a hell of a game.Comment -
I don't know if anyone mentioned this but in the two games these guys have just played. WVU has played a team more like Kentucky, Wash running style will mimic Kent more so then Cornell will mimic WVU so early on Kent might have some trouble with the style of the game. This one is a tough game to call but I am inclined to take the points in this one. Should be a great game!Comment -
WVU is more game ready... UK seems to hang around early and toy with you. If they come out like that against WVU, and WVU bigs get in Patterson and Cousin's head then WVU can ride out to indy. No matter what +4 is the play I think WVU can put this one away early if they come to play.Comment -
