Butler scored 40 points in the second half and ran away with a 68-59 win over Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Saturday. The Bulldogs got a team-high 18 points from junior forward Matt Howard to lead four players in double figure scoring despite failing to cover the NCAA basketball point spread as 14.5-point favorites to fall to 0-2 ATS over the last two games and 1-3 ATS over the last four games overall.
Analysis: Butler has beaten Wright State six consecutive times, including twice this season. The Bulldogs handled the Raiders 77-65 on Jan. 8 as 1.5-point road underdogs before handing their opponents tonight another 12-point loss on Feb. 6, as they won 74-62 to cover the college basketball betting spread as 8-point home favorites.
Tonight’s point spread – and outcome – should turn out nearly identical to the last meeting between these teams.
While both teams have recorded some absolutely abysmal ATS wagering statistics coming into tonight’s contest, I think tonight’s prediction is as easy as pie.
The Bulldogs have recorded two 12-point wins over the Raiders and should be able to win by double digits again in what is the most important game of the season for both ballclubs.
With the Raiders going an ugly 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings against the Bulldogs, I say play Butler to pick up a big win in a contest that looks like an absolute lock.
