who has advice for basketball totals? i literally pick totals about 25 percent correctly and sides much much higher than that...use to think it was just bad luck or something but i think i just try to exploit large or small numbers too much. i stopped playing them but i wouldnt be opposed to giving it another try. thanks

      Avoid them?

I'm in the same boat as you. Actually, I do pretty well with the NBA, but college is a disaster. Too many teams fouling down by 12 with 50 seconds left.

Just like sides or halftime wagers, there are times to jump in and times to stay away. Knowing when to play is a key in any of this.

For College totals I only would play an under if the spread is real high (so the fouling at the end does not occur) and would only play an over for smaller spreads. But generally they are hard to cap and should be avoided. I would only play if you pick something up in the local newspaper quoting the coach as saying he needs to "slow the game down" or "play up tempo".

Use Pomeroy pace & tempo ratings. I always feel more comfortable playing under a total that looks too high opposed to playing over a total that looks too low. When you play under at least you're winning most of the game! LoL!!!

Can you explain how you use the pomeroy ratings? I have looked at his site and don't see where he explains the pace and tempo ratings and how to put the numbers to use. Thanks.

It seems to me college totals in the first half go under a lot. Would love to know if anyone has and numbers on that.
