What's up fellow sports fans and gamblers? Today is Saturday February 6th, 2010 and as we are on the eve of Superbowl XLIV, let's get some college hoops action to make some money on for today.
Here are the games I like to bet on for today:
1) Marquette (-2.5) or (-3) to cover over Providence: Despite a bad 1-5 road record Marquette has been hot it's last 3 games and has played all top 25 college b-ball teams this year right down to the wire. Their 1-5 road record isn't indicative of how good they really are on the road because of tough losses to to Syracuse, Villanova and WVU all by a combined total of 8 points. Expect them to have a 6+ point win on the road today against the Friars.
2) Kentucky (-11) to cover at LSU: LSU are in disarray right now having lost 8 in a row while Kentucky is 21-1 and ranked third in the nation.Kentucky likes to play full court defense and LSU is not adept at defending against that style on offense. Expect a 13-16 point win for the Wildcats today.
3) Kansas State (-5) to cover at Iowa State: #11 Kansas State has shown us how good they really are with their one point OT loss to a Kansas team they were beating for most of the game. Iowa St. has lost 4 of their last 5 and were drubbed by the Jay Hawks by 24 points on their home court. If the Jay Hawks can do that, expect a hungry K-State team to win by at least 11 or 12 points today.
4) Arkansas (-5) to cover vs Auburn: Arkansas is hot right now riding a 3 game winning streak hosting against an underachieving Auburn team right now just struggling to find some rythmn on offense. Take the Razorbacks to cover as they will look to finish strong and have a chance to compete for their conference title as they peak at the right time.
5) Miami (+8) to cover at Florida State: Both teams enter this game at 16-6 and look at this game as a huge step up towards staying alive for a NCAA tournament bid. The loser might as well start booking their tickets for the NIT tourney. Florida St. is a very strong 10-2 at home this year however usually has trouble with local university teams who play them tough and in close game. Expect the Seminoles to win....but not by more than 5 or 6 points.
