Fresh week guys, time to right the ship here. After 2 wins to begin last week, I hit the skids going 5-11-1 to end the week. Just one game tonight:

CONNECTICUT +6.5 (risk $77 to win $70)

UConn and Louisville are undoubtedly the biggest disappointments to date in the Big East. Both have top 15 calibre talent, but haven't been able to put it together for 40 minutes. I just think 6.5 is too many points to be giving in a matchup like this! Both teams lost heartbreakers on Saturday, and are probably looking forward to getting on the court tonight to get that lingering taste out of theirs mouths. I'm really hoping UConn comes out to play. I believe UConn's guards are better overall as Louisville's just don't have the quickness and ability to keep up. UConn is traditionally one of the best rebounding and physical teams in the nation year in and year out. Samuels is a guy who has been known to pick up fouls, so I would think part of the game plan is to have Edwards and Robinson attack him early. But if UConn doesn't show up off the tip, and Freedom Hall starts rocking early, then add another loss to my record.

stanley robinson for uconn is for sure one of the best players in the nation. i hope L-ville moneyline doesnt fall through. but goodluck on the +side....that louisville full court pressure is some of the best D ive seen out of any team- its effective. it really rattles people. then samardo inside is sick.

i think 2 of those uconn losses are before coach calhoun went out but marquettes a good team that dealt them this most recent loss. they have some other guy who alot of commentators look at as their star player above robinson...

.louisville has this kid- delt who was hitting a lot of 3s on saturday against west va. and with....louisville is a good team and effective on both offense and defense.
patino was possibly upset with the refs from their last game played...so maybe today they make an extra effort to throw him some calls.

Not sure if I'm stubborn or whatnot, but if UConn played at Louisville again next week at the same line, I'd take the Huskies even though they lost by 13 last night. Thought I made a smart play, apparently not. OK, let's get back on track, need a winning week:

1) NORTHWESTERN -2 (risk $77 to win $70)

The Wildcats have played inspiring basketball lately, even though its not showing up in the win column. They played Michigan St and Minnesota on the road down to the last minute, coming up just short in each. They beat Purdue and Illinois in their last two home contest, where they have played good ball most of the year. Jon Shurna has been picking up the slack, and been scoring in the lane, behind the arc and from the free throw line. Behind Shurna, Northwestern seems to get different contributions in the scoring column night in and night out, but consistent. They play a physical, suffocating brand of basketball, a brand that Michigan doesn't seem to fare well against. Michigan has struggled all year away from home, with only 1 win outside Ann Arbour. They depend so highly on Manny Harris, that when he doesn't show up, they don't compete. I watched the Iowa game on Saturday, and its hard to believe the Wolverines only won by 14 points with how pathetic Iowa played. Iowa couldnt shoot, couldnt rebound, couldnt handle the ball, but yet were only behind 14. Northwestern was able to beat Michigan on their home floor by 6 a few weeks ago, despite good games from Harris and Sims. The rest of the team shot 7-23, and only scored 21 points. Northwestern should have a rowdy crowd tonight in a must win situation, and I look for them to feed off the energy, play smart and pull of the victory.

2) TOWSON +14.5 (risk $77 to win $70)

This is a game I generally overlook on the card, and eliminate immediately. I actually did that this morning, but went back and re-evaluated. Towson is only 5-16 on the season, and 2-9 in the Colonial. What encourages me here is the way they've competed, and dealt with adversity. Case in point, they lost at VCU by 59 points on Wednesday, and followed that with a 5 point win at UNC Wilmington (a very tough place to play). 10 of their 16 losses to date have been by less then 10 points, including games at Dayton, George Mason and Drexel 3 weeks ago. In fact, Towson only lost 52-49 to Drexel while only shooting 30% from the field, 10% from 3 point land, and 56% from the chairty stripe. Minus a few games, Towson has been respectable on the defensive side of the ball, and I hope they can put in a good performance tonight. Head Coach Pat Kennedy has been amazed with the attitude of his team, and overall impressed with the way they have played. How often do you hear that from a 5-16 team?
Drexel has been playing fairly well, until a loss at William & Mary on Sunday. I'm thinking the snow delayed weekend, may mess up their preparation and routine. They were supposed to play Saturday at W&M, and ended up playing late Sunday, and had to travel back with only 1 day rest. Plus, Drexel has a HUGE home contest against Colonial leading George Mason on Saturday. With global warming episodes last weekend, and a big home game on the horizon, I can see this game being overlooked and taken for granted.

Not gonna lie people.....Towson losing by 30 points was the absolute last thing I expected, believe me!

3) MICHIGAN ST. +2.5 (risk $77 to win $70)
These guys just win. I think the absense of Lauer catches up with Wiscy tonight.

4) AIR FORCE +18 (risk $77 to win $70)
They play a style where if they shoot 35-40%, they probably hang inside of 20. They are getting healthy, and been playing much better laast 3 games.

I'm getting pretty sick and tired of this constant grind. I cannot pick a f'n winner for the life of me. Pissing me like you wouldn't believe. What does the word value even mean??? I think I'm finding it, but my teams aare playing with ABSOLUTELY no energy or emotion, and its getting under my skin.

AF made 1 free throw the entire game! Shot almost the same percentage as SD and almost 50% from 3 and had to make a 3 to get within 22?! WTF?

I've been dealt a very bad hand lately. Like I said, I am not learning from my losses because I feel I'm on the right sides, I'm just getting no effort. What have I been missing?

For the most part I've been spot betting, only looking for value plays. Focusing on my most comfortable conferences. Do I need to scrap my conferences, and begin studying new ones. I don't know, I'm lost and feel like nything I touch will lose.

You will get out of your slump soon!! Take a few days and follow a consensus of the better cappers and you will win and get back on track! Just take a break and follow Lakerboy and Mex in NBA. Pittviper and rochestertitan do both well. GL

Thanks Bud........I really dont want to follow another capper, cuz Ive done that in the past, and thats when they seem to hit cold streaks. This game is very tough. Whenever I think Im ready to turn the page, I can't do it. I have terrible habits I cant break, which inevitbly will never make me successful. Being able to cap is one thing, being able to manage money is another.

If you don't take advice from the best guys in the forum then you won't get better. Always make your own play but that will help you manage better! I've won 10 of the last 14 days and it's because I blend the best guys here with my own. I'm better at halves and I suppliment that with others I agree with and it turns into winning days. Why else would you be in a forum if you don't follow other cappers as well as your own?? The group can accomplish more than the individual.

I know the line seems fishy, but if I dont pick it, and Mason covers, I'll be really upset. Couldn't talk myself out of this game.

2) James Madison -1 (risk $77 to win $70)
Been playing competitive as of late, have a good home record, and Hofstra has struggled on the road. Bowles should have a field trip against a small Pride team.

3) Virginia -5.5 (risk $77 to win $70)
The Cavs have been great, and the Wolfpack have been average. Virginia needs this one to stay in the ACC hunt. Until they prove a fluke start, this number screams value.
