It's pretty pathetic. What about Syracuse...guy who's name is escaping me right now cuz I'm about to go to sleep, shoots the best in Syracuse history, and 4th best overall in the last ten years, shooting at like 62% from the field... yet has the worst free throw percentage in the league at 32%. Horrible.

Texas and Kansas State really struggled from the line tonight.

I know right!! It was very hard to watch...not just because I was on TX but as a fan of basketball both teams were very very sloppy. Neither teams could pass, make layups, or free throws in the final 4 minutes...Hard to believe that these are two of the better teams in the country shooting around 40% from the stripe and combining for 40 turnovers in one game...I was waiting for Bobby Knight to go ape shit on someone for kicking the ball around

coaches need to drill it in the players' heads to practice ft's more. Come to practice early, leave late. There aren't alot of "gym rat" type players anymore, that spend 4 extra hrs alone in a gym shooting by themself. They all are playing 1 on 1 or every man for themself style basketball

Why has the FT become the hardest shot in Bball???

Because the young 'ballers' are spending more time worrying about which style of shoes they're wearing and working on their nasty double-dip, 360-LeBron dunks than practicing the fundamentals of the game. To be a solid free throw shooter, it takes discipline, and we live in a very undisciplined world right now.

Too many players would rather practice their slam dunks instead of working on fundamentals.

I'd pay to watch Shaq.......... I'm not paying to watch Memhut Oker shoot 80% from the line.....

A lot of it is mental too, some guys have it and others just don't. I played basketball for years and was very good, could shoot the lights out from 3 point range and could make free throws 20 and 30 in a row in practice. Running around in the game, pressure, etc I was average. Practice I could make 90% easily, games lucky if I was over 70%. That's just the way it is with some people.

pressure. the same reason the last favorite on the board on a given night loses so often- all eyes on them.

To much time to think at the line... More pressure to make because you are expected to! Look at J.R. Smith for the Nuggets. He probably shoots just as well from 3 feet behind the 3 point line as he does from the free throw line.

because 10 for 10 from the charity stripe won't get you on espn but a 360 windmill dunk will.... you tell me what these kids are practicing in the gym

Because no one likes to practice fundamentals, game has changed here in the states. Overseas players are more fundamentally sound to me.

I remember having to make 10 in a row from the charity stripe before being allowed to leave practice and go home, drilling the pick and roll and the weave in practice, and being benched for missing two shots in a row.

When I played in high school we would shoot only 20-25 free throws at the end of practice. Nobody really cared and just rushed through them. Me and 2 others were the only ones to shoot above 75%. Kids only care about making 3's or going to the hoop.

San Diego State shot 10-23 (43.5%) tonight at Utah.

It almost cost them the game because a majority of their bricks happened in the last minute or so.

7-20 is a ****ing joke. I can make 20 straight. It should not be that hard to make a free throw. I can understand an occasional miss here and there but to miss repeatedly over and over is just sad

Josh Boone who plays for the NJ Nets in the NBA actually shoots airballs at the free throw line, it's hard not to laugh. The refs actually gave Rasheed Wallace a technical foul before for laughing and taunting Boone after he shot an airball that was nowheres near the rim.

The worst free throw I've seen this year was last Sunday. That Monroe kid from G-Town gets to the line for a three-point play with about 30 seconds left and his team down by 3. He shot it roughly 3 feet short, no exaggeration. Of course having G-Town +4.5 and watching them lose by 5 only adds to the anger.

It's ridiculous how bad some of these players are from the line.

Because all they do in practice i putz around and work on their big plays but when it comes down to the FTs they are never practiced and never scored.
