not that it means much but id guess because when they set lines they put a lot of weight in power rankings and home court...going by the numbers the line is right about where it should be..records dont play that big a part in setting the lines...that being said doesnt mean that kent st isnt a good play i just think the line is about what you should have expected in this match-up..if kent st was at home i would guess the line would be around kent st -6

I know you shoudlnt go by records. But with the difference that they are here, isnt this line a little off?

I could see it as Kent State - 3 or 4. But to be the underdog, gets me...

power ranking wise kent st is only 2 better than mia-ohio and they tend to give four points for home court..i didnt have a lot of interest in this game because it is yet another road team getting pounded 1 sided so didnt look real far into it but i would guess that mia-ohio sos is considerably better than kent st...again dont hold me to that as im just guessing didnt actually check

i can't explain it, and 2dabank's explanation is spot on of course, but i can say that i'm glad i got it before the line went down. i think that too much credit is being given to Miami's home court based upon it historically being a relatively tough place to play [Ron Harper/Wally Szczerbiak days] and/or the theory that the middling teams in the MAC usually hold serve at home against one another. Kent State won outright as 4-point dog at Ohio U last weekend, which i believe to be a tougher opponent and a tougher place to play. that's good enough for me.

2dabank also correct that Miami-OH's SOS is probably the reason here. 3rd toughest schedule in country per ken pom. that said, they haven't played that well against it, even at home. BOL to you tonight.

Look at quality of competition and how tough Miami Ohio has played everyone. Also Miami Ohio has signifigant height advantage at just about every position. Vegas cleans up on this one, Miami Ohio wins by 7.
