I'm a new noob at this but what I think they mean is they give you a line that seems to good to be true(Like Duke and NC playing and Duke may be the better team but NC being the favorite by 2) The books may know something that the public doesn't know to give NC the edge but the public doesn't. THIS COULD BE TOTALLY WRONG BY THE WAY

Traps are games that look to good to be true. Perfect example was the other night in the NBA the Magic were giving 3.5 to the Bulls in Chicago. Majority of the bets placed came in on the Magic since they are having a great season and the Bulls look horrible. Well the Bulls ended up winning the game outright. Those are games that are traps. They look to good to be true. Tonight the Blazers are playing the Clippers. Well Clippers are -4 at home to the blazers..The Clips are never favorites.Oh yeah the Blazers have won 4 out of the last 5 vs the clips too. Why are they getting points? Well the books know better then anyone. Per SBR odds 52% of the bets are on the Blazers which they want and the line even went from 3 to 4. They want you to take the blazers. You should be looking to take the Clippers. Hope this gives you a better explanation on traps. Good luck.

Not really a trap here. Portland is completely banged up and they are on the road; take a look at their injury list. With that said, Clip should be Pk or -2.
