Kentucky vs. Long Beach State Pick
No video tonight, too tired. Will resume making videos next week.

Like Kentucky -21 here. Yes I have picked Kentucky a lot recently, but I've also won 5 games in a row (4 taking Kentucky, 1 on the opponent). Here is why I like Kentucky....

Long Beach really only plays 8 players. Their 9th guy only averages 6 minutes a game. That's not a recipe to defeat Kentucky. Their tallest player that they play is 6'7", and he leads the team in rebounds. He will be going up against 6'11" DeMarcus Cousins, 6'11" Daniel Orton, and 6'10" Patrick Patterson in getting rebounds, players that are much more talented and much more taller. Long Beach will not be getting any rebounds at all, especially on the offensive end.

Defensively, Long Beach allows their opponents to shoot 47% on the year. They have played a very tough schedule though, one of the toughest in the country. On a neutral floor, West Virginia beat them by 23. On the road at Notre Dame, they lost by 20. And at Texas, they lost by 34. Yet the hottest team in the country is only favored by 21 at home? I don't get it...

In terms of pace, Long Beach likes to run, hence the 107 points allowed to Texas. You do not want to get in a running game with Kentucky, this just means it is easier for them to cover the 21 point spread. Long Beach does have a couple of 3 point shooters though so one of them could get hot and keep Long Beach close, but the fact that it's going to be 1 shot and out each trip down the floor doesn't give me hope that Long Beach can cover, especially when considering how good Kentucky is playing right now.

For the Drexel game, the total was set at around 130 and Kentucky scored 88 points. The total is set for over 150 in this game, so Kentucky may flirt with 100 here.

The bottom line here is that UK is basically an NBA team, and Long Beach is coming off a loss to Loyola Marymount. I don't like Long Beach State's chances of hanging around to cover 21 points. I would have only considered Long Beach at +26 or so.
