    Any help - northeastern/st. Marys
This line is low at -5 or -4.5 , normally I WOULD BE ON NORTHEASTRN, but I cannot pull the trigger. Does anyone out there have a solid read on this game.??

I've watched Northeastern twice this year, against Rhode Island and Providence.
Both were close games .. Northeastern was a big dog. They are tough..
NE has beaten Utah St and Wright St this year.
I usually take Saint Mary's, but the 3pm tipoff during the week has me thinking NE might have an easier time. Saint Mary's poured it on Pacific in the 2Half the last game, I won with them, but they got off to a very slow start. NE is too solid to do that against.
Because of possible late fouls, though, I would rather tease NE to +10.

Well Look at the past games i know they both played utah state and the game had the same stats. They both won. But st marys won bye like 3 more points. Im taking st marys for my play of the day. Thats not a solid reason just trying to share some of my 2 cents.

NE has played tougher competition and kept it close but the stats are in favor of St. Marys. I am having trouble pulling the trigger either way but St. Marys could be due for a loss as much as NE is due for a win. Public money is on St. Marys.

Tricky game but methinks St. Marys win by 7.

I myself think St Marys is the play or none at all. St Marys played lesser opponents but they also know how to win. Both teams travelling to Hawaii with a slight advantage to St Marys only crossing one time zone vs NE travelling cross country. Statistically St Marys is better in all catagories limiting opponents to 67.9 ppg and 42.7% FGs while shooting 85 ppg and 50.7% vs 63.7 ppg and 43% FG. St Marys also leading in Assists, Blocks and less Turnovers per game while NE has the advantage of Steals per game at 7.6 to 5.1. If I play anything it'll be a small to medium sized bet on St Marys.

I am going with St. Marys they have a chip on their shoulder. I found this article:

Winning this week's Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu won't guarantee the Saint Mary's College men's basketball team a top-25 ranking. But it would give the Gaels something else they've been sorely lacking — some national recognition.
Ten of the tournament's 12 games — starting with the Saint Mary's-Northeastern opener today at noon — are on national television. Saint Mary's is hoping to demonstrate to a wider audience that it remains an elite mid-major program despite losing five seniors and NBA guard Patrick Mills from last season's team.
"The public, other teams, journalists don't think we're quite good enough to be ranked," Gaels forward Clint Steindl said. "But if we just keep playing the way we are, it'll slowly come."
Saint Mary's has raced out to a 9-1 record for the third straight season and already has wins over Utah State and Oregon on the road and Pacific at home.
But the Gaels have done it in relative anonymity. Only one game, an 80-58 win over San Diego State on Nov. 16, was on national television, and it began at 11 p.m. to accommodate ESPN. That may be a reason the Gaels remain outside the rankings in the Associated Press and the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll.
Saint Mary's did start to receive votes in the coaches poll five weeks ago, and is now ranked 30th. But not until Monday had the Gaels received votes in the AP poll.
"It's been like that for a while, but it's never been this bad since
                    Advertisement

I've been here," said Saint Mary's senior center Omar Samhan, who on Monday was named the West Coast Conference's Player of the Week for the third time this season. "We know we've kind of always been overlooked, but not like this year." Whether winning the eight-team tournament can get the Gaels a national ranking is unclear. Arguably the strongest team in the field is UNLV (10-1), but the Runnin' Rebels are on the other side of the bracket and not ranked by AP.
Should Saint Mary's beat Northeastern, it will play USC or Western Michigan in the semifinals. The Trojans beat Tennessee 77-55 on Saturday, when the Volunteers were ranked 16th in the AP poll.
"We know how big winning a tournament like this can be for your team," Gaels coach Randy Bennett told the Honolulu Advertiser on Sunday. "And now with ESPN involved, it becomes even bigger when you look at recruiting and exposure and all that."
Waiting to earn national recognition is nothing new to Saint Mary's, which won 15 of its first 16 games last season before it cracked the top 25 in the coaches poll. The Gaels were 18-1 before making the AP poll.
"It's almost to the point where you don't even look at (the rankings) anymore. You feel disrespected some days," Samhan said. "It motivates us. It keeps us working."
The good news for Saint Mary's is that most of its remaining games this season will be on television. Comcast SportsNet California will show six of the team's West Coast Conference games, and ESPN2 will have four. Comcast SportsNet Bay Area and ESPNU will have one each.
Note: The tournament is a homecoming of sorts for Saint Mary's assistant Mark Campbell, who played two seasons at the University of Hawaii. He helped the Warriors make the NCAA Tournament in 2002 and the NIT in 2003 and is the winningest two-year player in Hawaii history.
Diamond Head Classic: Today, Saint Mary's vs. Northeastern, noon, ESPNU; Wednesday, TBA, ESPNU; Friday, TBA, ESPNU or ESPN2

I agree. Motivational factor and playing on national tv should give them a boost for the win and cover.

It seems to me there is a general theory out there that Northeastern will somehow hold St Mary's defensively - I believe this is what is driving the total down as well....I'm thinking there is a huge value in a parlay with St Mary's -5/over 135.5 so pull the trigger on this.
