UC santa barbara- opened up on a smooth 12-0 run just to get down 15 early. Santa Barbara's offense showed out 2nd half, however they had trouble closing late with rice hitting some clutch 3s. Thankfully the game went into OT where UCSB dominated and won by 10. They were a lot better than rice so in glad they covered
Arizona- got outrebounded by 30!!! Sean miller has work to do because when you get dominated by that much on the glass you get killed on 2nd chance points and lose.
Old Dominion- This team is absolutely the real deal. Veteran leadership and a starting freshman in Carver (older brother starts too) who is an absolute playmaker. This is a damn good team
South Dakota State- this line made no sense. A tourney team last year just like Nevada, the jackrabbits brought back Mike daum and a flurry of other starters to hopefully make it back to the dance in 2018. Their two top scorers went 3/20 ans they only lost by 4. They aren't off to the best start, but I think they will win their conference and get in.
Princeton- stormed back from 12 down halfway through the 2nd half to comeback and not only win but hit free throws late to cover. A lucky cover in the matter
LSU- even though the covered, this team needs to learn how to pull away late and close out games. First they blew it against FSU up late and later blew it against Houston while up late. It almost happened again tonight but Skylar Mays was clutch tonight.
Charleston- See Old Dominion. Another team who brought back nearly everyone from a very well rounded team in 2017. Just like Old dominion they will be in the tourney come March.
Uconn- Biggest disappointment of the day. Half way through the 1st half they were shooting 7%! Also, Brandon Adams late in the 2H while up 20 missed 5 shots and 2 FTs. Tough scene. Manhattan is not good. Hofstra beat em at their place by 30. Expected a better scoring outing from Uconn
NJIT- easy hit. Better team and they traveled like an hour and half for their "road" game.
Citadel- is citadel finally decent ? Good for them
Stephen F Austin- somewhat as an impulse bet about 3 minutes before tip, Stephen F was just throttled by Monroe. The one team who I never thought had a chance to cover. Sad part is the team won 27 games last year and is virtually the same. But they have regressed mightily in most categories. Not sure what is happening but they are in trouble.
Southern Miss- Golden Eagles showed huge fight today while playing Wichita. I believe they should of actually won this game. This is a good Southern Miss team and they should be contenders in their division.
Indiana- WOW. Shot off the year. What a game and what a win with the 30 foot 3 as time expires.
ASU- down about 16 at one point my Devils fought back to win. I'm glad they won however the push was a FT away.Comment -

UCF- Got up 22 really early in the 1st half, but it got kind of close there. Actually it came down to the last possession, but Stentson settled for a mid range jumper (down 18 and line was 15). They missed anyways. UCF missed the GL so I am starting to really like taking 1H or GL with big spreads.
Maine/Duquesne-I dont play unders often, but I am 3/3 so far with them. Statistically what I look at is the extreme values on both end. Maine is 349th/353rd in Adjusted pace of play and it is not like Duquesne pushes the pace either. After the 1st half I knew it was gonna take a big 2nd half (about an 80 burger) from these teams to bust the play. Thankfully it did not happen.
Pacific- This team dominated in basically every category I look at when handicapping a game, yet boy did they struggle on defense. Now Pacific isnt the best defensive team in the world, but they let the Northridge team look dominate in the post. Now Northridge has a 22 point scorer and he was left on an island to go to work in the low post for 40 minutes. Now that is bad coaching. For being down 11 late in the 2nd half they still found a way to win. -4 looked possible but a step back 3, TO, and a 3 with the foul crushed those dreams.
Miami (OH)- Really good offensive team. They struggle on defense, but Miami had more weapons on offense. I liked +6.5 because statistically there isnt a huge difference in these teams. Furthermore, Miami was superior on offense so they had that going for them. They won the 1st half and almost lost control of the game in the 2nd, but they competed for 40 minutes and covered the spread.Comment -

Defensive oriented team that not only returns their top scorer, but they added a Seton Hall transfer (14/8/1) and an American transfer (13/3/2). In terms of metrics I expect Seattle to out rebound Portland and force more turnovers. This bodes well for a team that shoots over 47% from the field and is top 100 in pace of play.Comment -

ASU- Let vandy shot 44% from deep (Opp3Pt%=33) Furthermore, Vanderbilt's bench shot 6/10 from deep while ASUs bench struggled with efficiency. ASU won on the boards and caused a ton of fouls, but their defense was lackluster. I hope it was just because of 2 games in 3 days against the SEC.
Seattle- I really like the Seattle team. They played Washington tough and just pounded Portland at their place. They won the battle on the glass and pretty much everywhere else. I would say they dominated for about 36 of 40 minutes. A quality blowout by a quality win.Comment -

Terrible night. Anyways
The Citadel- This team is legit. They are veteran led and they can go on scoring runs really at any time. That stallworth kid gets to the hoop and draws fouls like it is his day job (basically is). Gonna ride the citadel train until it crashes
Radford- 1-9 last 3 minutes and change of the 2H. That being said... they were only down 3 with about a minute left but they kept coming up empty on offense and when it mattered most (down 7 with the last shot) they missed the three again to end the game on such a terrible drought. Still like this team going forward
ECU- 49-51 with three minutes left... they didn't score again. Charlotte also didn't score again until the 25 second marker so that makes it worse.
USC- PAC12 is an embarrassment yet again. 6'7 average height and 7 top 100 recruits but going to miss the tourney again.
Butler- when I saw -2.5 I pounced. This is a good Butler team that was just lagging a bit after that heartbreaker v Indiana. They woke up in the 2nd half and won convincingly.
SDSU- Skylar Flatten ? Big time game. Mike Daum got his and the other seniors were able to be efficient, but I'd Flatten keeps playing like he has been SDSU is gonna have a tough time not making it back to the tourney.
Syracuse- Got crushed on second chance points, offensive glass, and the 3. Not ideal way to win. The defense isn't as consistent as we hoped and they gotta do a better job on the box out. Seems lazy at times. Boeheim will get them right.
IUPUI- let Purdue fort Wayne pace the game. Once Fort Wayne got the looks they wanted IUPUI didn't have the ponies on offense.
Charleston- Cant wait to see them compete in MarchComment -

The golden eagles return 4 of 5 starters including former top recruit Dominic Magee (74 class of 2014). What I like about this team is that even though they average 6'3 in size they out rebound opponents 39.3 to 36.9. The most eye opening stat is they average just above 10 turnovers a game at 10.1, but force nearly 15 a game. The give up 62.4 a game which is good for 27th in the country and their defensive metrics are 20th in DRtg and 107th in AdjD. Furthermore they play at the 305 slowest pace. Mix that in with Kasas State playing at a slow pace of play and having offensive struggles this year (274th in ORtg) I like the golden eagles to keep this game actually close. Furthermore, KSU is without Dean Wade who leads the Wildcats in reboundsComment -

#70UC Irvine -3
Saw the line at -2.5 but I guess I was to slow. Anywho, Russ Tuckers Anteaters return literally everyone and add senior guard Robert Cartwright from Stanford (8/2/2). That being said I like the veteran leadership on this squad as well as them giving up 62.8 PPG which is good for 29th in the nation. I would say EMUs strong suit is their offense and their Center Forward combo of 6'11 and 6'10 (both good for 10PPG) , but the Anteaters have four different forwards who matchup well against their height. Also, if Irvine gets in foul trouble early EMU is one of the worst FT shooting teams at 60%. Also they shoot a gross 28% from 3 so if they need to play catch up it is going to be with 2s. On the other hand, when UC decides to start letting them fly from downtown they shot 37% which can help them stretch the floor.Comment
