Iowa Loses to Division II Augustana College 76-74

Not as shocking as it appears because Augustana is ranked #1 and are a very good team.
Nonetheless it shouldn't happen. Probably will be a positive over the long haul, a good wake up
call.

Augustana out rebounded Iowa, 42-35, and outscored the Hawkeyes in the paint, 40-36. Iowa missed 39 shots and pulled down just 10 offensive rebounds.

The Hawkeyes jumped out 12-2 as Augustana missed 14 of its first 15 shots. But the Iowa was outscored
31-9. Ouch.

Iowa also opened the 2nd half allowing a 21-10 run. Ouch again.

On a positive note, nearly 13,000 fans showed up on Friday night for this exhibition game.

Don't read too much into this loss, the Hawkeyes are going to be good.

Not really shocking. Augustana won 31 games last year and have players who could make most Division I teams.

Wasn't lack of effort on Iowa's part. If one facet could be pointed at it would be rebounding, or lack thereof. Plus they ran into a buzz saw that was more motivated and hit 45% of their 3's (9-20).

I'll have to check out Augustana's schedule and see if they play any more Div. I schools. They would present a good dog opportunity.

Don't overreact Iowa is going to be fine.
