Time to build bankroll for the tourney. I like FGCU here for several reasons. Both teams come in with similar records FGCU at 22-9(11-3) and SCUPST at 22-10(8-6).
2 seed vs 3 seed as semifinal is set in Fort Meyers, FLA on FGCUs home court. In both match ups this year FGCU ran away with both games registering double digit leads in both games despite being out rebounded in their road win as well. FGCU shot a tad under 50 at 48%fg while SCUP shot at an abysmal under 43% fg rate despite taking 10 more shots in the games combined.
Ty Greene for SCUPST led them in both games with 28 and 31 pts the reigning 2015 ASUN player of the year. However FGCU boasted a much more balanced attack with 4 or more players in double figures.
I like FGCU here for couple reasons. They have won 7 straight over SCUPST and flat out have outplayed them in both games this year on both offense and defense. They've let Greene go off for his 20 or 30 and made them one-dimensional in their matchups and the numbers back this up. Also I like the experience FGCU has on the floor with Comer, Thompson and Jones who know the familiar road to get to the NCAAs. FGCU comes in with a solid home record of 11-2 only having lost once in conf. Play to NFlorida. The fact they lost their last 2 reg. season games I like actually because theirs no chance of a letdown and SCUPST also lost 3 of 5 to close the yr so they don't have much of an edge in momentum.
Bottomline Im more than confident laying the 4 here on FGCU as They are the better team on the floor tonight and expect them to pull away with tough D and s balanced attack. Take FGCU -4. GL
