    HUGE blow to Kentucky
As if the past 24 hours weren't painful enough, UK has lost, imo, the one irreplaceable player on the team.
Alex Poythress gone for the year after an ACL tear in practice. Make no mistake about it, the box scores might plead differently but without AP the gap between UK and everyone else just closed up; that's even if there was a gap. I don't think it was as big right now as some would argue but by the time March came, I kinda felt like it would have been UK & the rest. All of Cal's UK teams have played their best ball late.

thats a joke. UK will be much better on offense no matter who plays the 3. The guy was a nice athlete but he wasn't a basketball player.

Are you kidding me? Do you watch UK other than once a year, in December. Poythress is a motor. He rebounds on both ends, defends well and always seems to be the one who makes a momentum changing play; does the stuff that might not show on a box score. No, he isn't a great shooter and can't go out and get you 25 on any given night. But he possesses intangibles along with experience that is unmatched by anyone else on the roster.

        Experience factor as well....
dude has been around the block with these teams.
Kentucky guys are still most talented... but it's hard to stay grounded through the year without a leader on the court.

So does he get another year or what by UK standards seems he's been there forever.

a motor? The guy works hard like 50% of the time he's on the floor. He disapears way too much to have a great motor. Putting Booker or Lyles at the 3 makes the team better by a large margin. Kentucky doesn't need his rebounding and defense. They have plenty of other guys to do that. They DO need more offense in the lineup and the fact that Poythress is playing the 3 and has ZERO offensive abilities hurts them
