I have read over several comments in which people inquire about KenPom.
I just paid $20 for a third season. While I am no pro, I have never lost any money (actually up marginally) using his website and his picks. I lose money elsewhere, haha.
Here is what I can tell you about KenPom.
1) The numbers and philosophy is sound. Pomeroy is a genius, and he is evolving.
2) You can not blindly use his picks and expect to get rich. I believe KenPom's data is reflected in the line, making it hard to beat. My logic on this is his predictions in Fanmatch are very close to opening lines.
3) It is still profitable to use his predictions to earn a profit. I have done it, just not a big enough sample size and only marginal profit to show for it.
4) Money management. Had to throw that in there.
5) It is worth the $20 a season purely for entertainment. He does predict games exactly right a few times a season, and he is right on most of his picks in terms of the moneyline. He misses ALL huge upsets, and is no better than a coin flip on the really close games.
The only thing I have wondered about FanMatch is if his predictions are updated. He currently has his predictions for the entire regular season. So obviously, he is not taking crucial factors into account that have yet to occur (i.e injuries, suspensions, etc.), due to it being impossible to do so. I would imagine he does update them, but not sure what all the stipulations are behind it.
Good luck to ya,
PROF
