Basketball referees need to be replaced by computers

Most of the time in these major mismatches in the 1st round, the better team runs off and hides.

However, if a well known team like Villanova runs into trouble against American, the refs will do everything in their power to carry them across the finish line.

This happens constantly and these crooked biased referees need to be called out and investigated.

Villanova who was favored by 16 was down by 10 at the half and the refs really had to work overtime in this one:

Free throws attempted and made:

American 3 free throws made, 5 attempted
Villanova 26 free throws made, 29 attempted

The disparity would have even been wider if the referee assistance wasn't so effective.

Why doesn't the coach of American call out these crooked referees? A team plays hard the whole season and goes out to a 10 point lead and then the game flat out gets stolen from them by referees who are supposed to be neutral.

American made 3 more field goals than Villanova and made 4 more 3 pointers than Villanova and yet they got blown out by 13 solely due to crooked referees.

The referees who were in this game should NEVER be allowed to work another game for the rest of their lives.

not the refs fault american was settling for jump shots while nova was attacking the rack every time down the floor. they took the game to american in the 2nd half had nothing to do with the refs

In the 1st half, American made 3 free throws from 4 attempts while Villanova made 2 free throws from 3 attempts. The refs called the game fairly and American led at the break by 10 points.

In the 2nd half, American gets 1 FREE THROW ATTEMPT and Villanova gets 26 FREE THROW ATTEMPTS making 24 of them.

Villanova outscored American at the free throw line by 23 points in the 2nd half which was exactly the margin of the 2nd half 49-26 in favor of Villanova.

2dabank, if you're trying to claim that the referees were neutral in their officiating, then there is no hope for you.

nova was not taking the ball to the rack in the 1st half in 2nd half almost every possession they attacked the rim. i dont hear every1 crying bout refs in every duke gm thats ever been played and ive never seen duke game where refs dont give them bunch of bs calls

Every single Binghamton starter had at least one foul after only 3 minutes were played in the game. Then they immediately called a 2nd foul on their best player which sent him to the bench for the majority of the 1st half. I believe Binghamton got called for 9 straight fouls before they decided to hit Duke with one.

Basketball is a physical game and the referees have an enormous amount of power to influence the result. I have no doubt that many referees besides Tim Donaghy have cheated but he is the only who got caught.

I was hoping that the NBA would take a serious hit after the referee scandal as I can't stand the game or the players who participate in it. 90% of them would probably be in jail if it weren't for basketball.

Yes, dwest, binghamton did get screwed by the refs but they wouldn't have won anyways.

refs were all over Minnesota too in the Texas game.....too bad there's nothing you can do about it...unless you work for the fed or the mob

All of the fouls in the Binghamton game were completely deserved with one exception. As much as I hate Duke, they really didn't get as many calls as usual.
