Unfortunately I just picked against one of my two favorite teams (Michigan) and it was quite costly. Fortunately I cut my loses by wagering nearly as much on Bucknell to save most of my face. I am NOT betting against my other favorite team today! Now now, I'm not just blindly making my selection based off of the fact that I got burned by one of my squads and don't want to fall victim again by missing out on my others victorious credits! But I am up 600 this week (possibly 500-700 by the time the Prov game tips depending on whether BG covers or wins) and will be investing every penny of it on the good faith that Providence will cover and win. Providence over the last 3 weeks hasn't been exactly a barn burner. They've let good opportunities to solidify their NCAA birth slip away on a couple occasions. That being said, Butler hasn't been good during that span either. Butler has lost 5 straight (2 at home, 1 in not so great of a showing to Xavier, and the other in a competitive game against Creighton which they ultimately got outplayed in the final portion of the 2nd half) That might be an accomplishment in playing Creighton tough at home, but many Big East teams have done it in the last month or so, including Providence who got a victory over the Hawks at the Dunk. Butler has played teams at home closely throughout the course of the season including Nova, Gtown, and ofcourse Creighton, but the majority of play for them over the last month has been awful. Providence is outplaying them over that span in almost every major statistical category (FG% 3pt% FT% Rebs, Blocks, A/TO, Assists, OffPPP, DefPPP, Def FG%), really only trailing them in Steals, TO forced, and Points Allowed. All while playing a schedule that is similar in strength (Prov played DePaul in that span, the only truly weak team either of them faced). Providence is 11-1 against 100+ RPI teams this season, losing to Seton Hall by 1 at home. Providence CAN NOT lose this game if they want to make the Big Dance, unless they plan on running the table and making it to the BE tourney Semis at minimum.
All in all, that's about everything I can give you to attempt to be convincing on Providence today +1.5. I'm thinking 330 on the spread and 270 on the ML. So if anyone has any other feelings about this game, lemme know...feel free to comment below and GL!!!
