    St John's vs. Providence
St.Johns has been playing a lot of up tempo basketball lately and Providence loves shooting the ball early into the Shot Clock.. I expect a lot of offensive transition possessions and baskets for each team.

I guess. SJ protects the hoop but can have perilous shooting nights. Think this boils down to Prov ability to score from the perimeter.

Providence will have no post game, their big guy is a classic high post Flex Bigman.. Providence in their last 4 Home Games has been shooting 46.2 percent per game.. they are a very solid shooting team at home, as far as your comment about St.Johns having "perilous" shooting nights the last real bad game they had shooting the ball was an Non-Confernce vs Darmouth shooting around 33.9. In Conference St.Johns has been shooting way above average in their last 4 games they have a FG% of 48.2.. Sprinkle the fact that St.Johns is shooting 48.2 with the fact they are in the top 3 in the Big East in how many times they get opportunities to score the ball you have a recipe of a pretty solid scoring game..

I do agree with you that, Providence needs to score from the perimeter in order to compete but the very fact that Providence in its last 4 Games at Home is 4-0 and shooting 46.2 in those games.. its safe to say they will.

Well shooting % and matchups are important. If Prov can get to the hoop and score from the perimeter than yeah, but take away the paint which SJ can do and maybe that % isn't so great.

With all the athleticism at SJ I'm confused why Lavin hasn't extended to his 3/4 press/trap which was great several years before his issues. He has the depth.

          GL!

Providence runs a flex offense meaning if St.Johns plans on playing man to man. it would make one of st johns big guys having to play up on the high elbow of the free throw to guard the providence Bigs (Providence uses a big guy to screen the ball handler to start the offense for the most part) with that said it typically will create driving lanes for Providence..

either way it should be a fun game to watch.
