Hello all, great game on tap, thought I share my point of view to help with any decisions out there. My pick will be posted at the end of my write up.
Notes to consider:
1. Michigan State forward Branden Dawson (10.2 points and 8.7 rebounds a game) is out for at least a month with a broken right hand. Senior Adreian Payne (16.2 points and 7.7 rebounds) will also likely miss his sixth straight game with a foot injury. Consider the importance of these stats: COMBINED: 26.4 points, 16.4 rebounds! How will they make that up? Advantage IOWA
2. Iowa knows this is there chance to make a move in the big ten and KNOWS the road to that championship has to go through MS. They are home, the crowd will be in it, the team will be fired up! Advantage IOWA
3. Izzo was out coached last game and will not make the same mistakes. He is trying to find out what playes can step up to fill the gap of his missing starters. The evaluation cost him the game. Know this, he KNOWS how to match up personnel and will be ready for this game. The issue remains can his bench match the play of Iowa? Advantage MS
4. Marble is a 6'6" guard and most likely matched up against ???. White is 6'9" and matched up against ??? Tallest guard for MS is Harris at 6'4", Appling is 6"1" but have depth at guard position. IMO, guard advantage goes to MS. Forward advantage goes to Iowa. Absolutely no answer for WHITE!!!
5. SO, with that mini review, I believe Iowa will get it done, but not by a big margin. The line currently is Iowa -5 at 5 dimes. I think -3.5 is more likely the right number. I am buying down the point and will also put some cash on the ML in favor of IOWA!!!!
