ahhhh....great start. Last night was painful. Seemed like there were a decent amount of people that struggled with picks.

Lucky I salvaged the night with a couple of late NBA plays. Hopefully others had better nights.

Overall, 2-5-2 on day. Rough, rough start. Especially after going 5-1 day before. I feel it will be necessary to be a bit more disciplined moving forward. With NBA plays yesterday, had 11 plays on the board. Just too many.

Try to keep it within 4-5 plays max.

One play so far is Gonzaga -9.

Portland just struggled at home losing to St. Mary's by 13. Gonzaga is head and shoulders above St. Mary's and also had Portland # last year winning both games by 20+.

Granted new year, but feel the Zags have been playing well of late. Proven they can win on the road by knocking off WVU earlier in the year.

Slightly better night last night, but Gonzaga killed me late. I actually doubled up on them 2h thinking they'd at least win the game. So really lost two bets there.

Two other plays that I ended up making were Arizona -1 small slightly before tip and Charlotte +3 in light of the scandals.

So night ended:

One played locked in for tonight is Iona -13. Can't see Fairfield being able to handle Iona's pressure and tempo. Fairfield is long and big but really struggle in the backcourt and putting the ball in the basket.

Lean w/ Siena right now at home.

Gonna look at Rider/Canisius as well. I like Canisius - have a stud in Billy Baron and are tough at home. Just feel 7 is a lot of points. They are going to be hungry for win though, as is Rider. Tough one to cap.

Didn't post plays this weekend....apologies but was crazy busy and was making plays on the fly over the phone. Weekend wasn't terrible. Lost a couple units overall. Will try and start posting plays again this week.

Took the 4 bets above last night - both Cuse and Va. snuck out covers with Va. almost catching the ML save a for a Cameron bounce. Wish there were more like the Northern Arizona game - few and far between tho.

Also added Northeastern (loser) and Texas (winner) shortly before tip. And hit a parlay with the above 3 games.

Anyhow, today's card so far:

Wiscy -4 - Really like Wiscy's poise, leadership, ability to make shots and get stops when needed vs. a young and unproven Indiana team. Line seems low and seems awfully similar to a lot of road favorites lately - Cuse last night, Illinois @ Northwestern, Zona @ USC, etc. But, I feel that Wiscy is the better team and with FTs should be able to pull out a 6-8 point win.

Creighton -10 - Butler been struggling, losing last 4 games, a couple in OT. This will be a smaller bet for me but I feel Creighton has too much fire power and poses big time matchup problems for Butler. Home court is also huge. -10 is a big # though.

Weighing a couple other possible plays. Leaning George Washington +2.5

Plays so far...

Lot of chalk tonight - has me a little worried.

SMU -10
Michigan State -10
Washington State +12
St. Joseph's -11

Leaning on a couple other possible plays:

Baylor -3.5 - fishy line, similar to Wiscy last night but haven't been impressed with TT so far. Took Iowa State and West Virginia at their place and hit both. Baylor definitely the better team and already have been dealt a couple of losses. Feel they are less likely to be surprised and unprepared for the game.

George Mason (if gets to ~ +6.5). Mason has played a tough schedule and won't be intimidated by UMass. Plus, UMass has been struggling AT HOME lately and this is the first A10 road game for them. Not saying Mason will win, but think it could be a good game. If points get high enough, gonna side with them. Will look at first half as UMass has been coming out of the gates slow.

Also added Wash State/Stanford u130.5. Since Lacy got hurt for Wash State they've really slowed their style down...playing a lot of zone and working the shot clock almost all the way down to under 10 most possessions. Their last four games:

49-46 vs. Utah
70-71 vs. Colorado - 56 all at end of regulation
47-66 vs. Arizona State
25-60 vs. Arizona

They almost knocked off Colorado and beat Utah slowing the game down. Gotta think they'll do more of the same tonight, especially on the road.

Plays so far for tonight....

Memphis -6 - Not a big UConn believer and they have struggled on the road. This is a big conference game for both teams and feel they will both come out ready but also feel Memphis will wear UConn down and has the size/quickness to bother Napier and Boatright on perimeter.

Arizona -11 - I just don't see Zona State being able to hang with Arizona on the road.

UCLA -1.5 - With Colorado losing Dinwiddie and Fletcher and having struggled lately, I think this points to UCLA coming in and taking care of business. I do worry how teams tend to bond when losing a player to injury for a game or two, but either way, I still feel UCLA is just the better team. Depth is going to be a problem for Rado too. Colorado needs a win, but not sure it's going to happen against UCLA.

Quinnipiac -10 - Quinn needs a bounce back game after losing to St. Peter's on the road. Have already beaten Monmouth earlier in the year by 17 at Monmouth. Q should come out ready to go. May look at 1st H here too.

Elon +8 - Elon's head coach, Matt Matheny was a long-time assistant to Bob McKillop at Davidson. Know one knows Davidson better than Matheny. Teams are pretty evenly matched and I gotta think 8 points is enough for a cover here. Last year's game was a 5 point decision with Davidson being the much better team. This year much more evenly matched.
